I tell you, this "Mackenzie" of Rumours ATL, SHE HAS A FOLLOWING. People love her, I guess because she really seems to own it, "being Stevie".

Same with this "Brooke" of Nightbird: Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band from the Houston, Texas area. They also have a woman in the band who plays Christine. They take their "roles" very seriously.

Every time Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks play a concert in Houston, Texas - you will ALWAYS see "Brooke" dressed in her Stevie tribute band stage wardrobe walking into the venue with her entourage. They twirl, dance, and play tambourines down on the floor. Stevie may be wearing tennis shoes on stage these days, but "Brooke" can still rock the platforms. It's a sight to see.

That is sooooo strange to me. So they do this at a Nicks show?

See and that's exactly what is so weird to me. Taking their costume and "act" so seriously. I would rather just see a cover band do a good job covering some Fleetwood Mac songs. I don't need to see a fake Stevie and fake Lindsey and fake Christine while the people actually playing the parts are in the background pretending not to exist. I'm not big on that "theater" aspect. It's fake and phony to me and I'd rather just sit on my couch and watch a video of the actual band than that. Wearing their garb to an actual FM or SN show takes the weird to a new level.

In Rumours ATL, really Stevie is the only one that plays the entire role. I mean, both bands have John wearing the "English driving cap", but there are no mannerisms being copied(and the one last week played bass WITH A PICK on The Chain). In Rumours ATL, I think Christine wears the old school scarf on her head, but that's it.

And I think people want to see Stevie being Stevie. She is(un****ingfortunately) the draw.

Remember the guy who made a lucrative career out of doing Joni Mitchell in the 1980s? Even Joni Mitchell said it was so surreal to watch him. Besides the sound its part of the shtick. I remember his tour appearances would be in the newspaper right next to the major acts coming to town.
If you can pull it off, I say go for it and go all in.

It always makes me laugh that none of these tribute bands do any of the nuances that any of us would totally know from live shows/taped performances. I guess these shows really aren't for us though, and they just want to try to sound identical to the records.

Yes. Super embarrassing and the opposite of what rock and roll is/was. Similar to the real $tevie now.
