1973
I know alot of people talk about 1975 and 1977 being big years in Fleetwood Mac's history, but to me 1973 is a big year also. I mean they released 2 albums and had the Fake Fleetwood Mac thing hit at the end of the year. I was wondering, how did they manage to record two albums in the span of 6 months. If memory serves me right, Penguin was released in april or so and Mystery to me was in September. ANd also I believe Bare Trees was releaed in September of the previous year, so they were really crankin out the music in that years time. Just like to get peoples thoughts. Thank you.

As for the fast-paced recording, that was just the norm for the band in those days. I bet if you had told Chris, Mick and John in 1973 that five years later they'd be spending more than a year and more than a million recording a new Fleetwood Mac album, they'd have laughed in your face. They were a struggling band going through a lot of line-up changes. They needed to get new product out there to promote whatever the latest incarnation of the band was. Bare Trees was recorded in just two weeks, I think, although I don't recall if that was the first sessions or the second, after the master reels were lost/stolen. |
I like to think that MTM might've been HUGE, had Weston kept it in his pants, OR Mick have realized what a great album it was, and kept the band on the road.

Remember, this was a time when young teenagers were listening to 92-KHJ play "One Tin Soldier" every afternoon precisely at 4 o'clock. I should know because I was on the school bus heading home every afternoon at the time, & the whole bus quieted down for the daily broadcast of "One Tin Soldier," a hook-filled megasuccessful song that AM radio owned. www.thecolefamily.com/onetinsoldier.htm |

Actually, I think THE most significant year in Fleetwood Mac's history was from May 1970 through May 1971. In that time, they went from Fleetwood/McVie/Green/Spencer/Kirwan to Fleetwood/McVie/McVie/Kirwan/Welch.

Songs I know for a fact they've played live that I someday would like to have live recordings of (if they exist): Revelation Night Watch Remember Me (a Fleetwood Mac concert recording...I know Christine did this at the Bob Welch & Friends Live At The Roxy show) Rattlesnake Shake (from 1975, with Lindsey on lead vocal) The Bigger The Love ("Time" tour) |

Here's hoping anyways that Welch releases that MTM show he's ovbiously got in full like you say someday soon. :) John |

I put my VHS of it on DVD so I can rip it back to my computer & create an MPEG file but my e mail account won't attach such a big file. If someone can explain to me how to post it (blush) I'll be happy to try when I can. :) I don't have the Chuck Berry intro bit though, I had to trim some of the fat to fit some things on to the DVD so... chiliD, "Nightwatch" is on that 1974 Chicago bootleg that's in circulation. Unfortunately, the quality is quite poor. I would grade it as C quality. But it is out there. |

I've heard (or TRIED to hear) it a number of times...which keeps me from actively trying to own it. |

It's a shame about the sound quality. That bootleg has one of the most unique Fleetwood Mac set lists I've ever seen. |

Yeah...that's what is so frustrating about that one. |

Anyway, I hope somehow us lot that are interested wish we can get a hold of it. BTW How does this Rapidshare and Yousendit work for those who want to download? |
I hope I can get more guidance too. I tried Yousendit but it said the file can't be bigger than 1 MB & the MPEG I created for "The bigger the love" was 175 MB so no doubt the 1973 one will be twice as big (since there's 2 songs). Do I use DVD Shrink to shrink the MPEG? I'm sure there'll be software I can shrink it with but I don't know if it'll let me shrink it from 175 to 1! Any ideas on this I'm happy to try but the ideas need to be explained as well. :)

Say this '74 recording from Chicago people are talking about. I have one that SAYS it's 11-8-74 New York. Is this the same one? because mine sounds pretty good I think.
