On With The Show: Christine

Rehearsals should be starting soon. What exactly will Christine McVie's contributions to this tour be?
Here's my guess:
Say You Love Me- I think this will be her first song. I don't think it will open the show though.
Why- She's mentioned there may be a few surprises. This could be the time to bring out this fan favourite. Fingers crossed.
You Make Loving Fun- A definite.
New Song- I'm pretty sure they'll play a couple of new songs ahead of an album release.
Little Lies- Probably this or Everywhere- not sure they'll play both.
Isn’t It Midnight- Would love to see Lindsey shred this live.
Don’t Stop- A definite.
Songbird- Has to close the show.

Of course I'd love to hear other songs in the set but realistically I think she'd be limited to a maximum of 8. Why's probably the least likely.

Danigirl 07-28-2014 11:25 AM

For some reason I feel Little Lies will surely be apart of this set list. I am also inclined to believe Tusk tracks will be the "surprises." Well maybe one Tusk track (Never Forget) and one Mirage (Hold Me). I highly doubt "Why" will be included. I just don't want to get my hopes up, I guess.

Yeah, wishful thinking. In reality, substitute Why for Hold Me. It would still be good to hear Hold Me.

Tusky 07-28-2014 12:04 PM

Didn't they mention Brown Eyes was one of the tracks?

Unless I've missed something I don't think anything has been confirmed. In the 'Works interview' she said;
'I think we're going to concentrate on the obvious ones, on my major hits, sticking the odd left of centre one in now and again. It could be anything from Brown Eyes, it could be Oh Daddy, it could be something even more obscure. I mean, never say never, there's going to be the odd song that pops up and we say oh why don't we try that'.

So, if anyone in the band (or associated with the band) looks at The Ledge then please, please please let your left of centre song be 'Why'.

Ulpian 07-28-2014 01:28 PM

I think that it's almost inevitable that one of her Tusk songs will be in the set. I don't much care for them, I have to say, but if I had to guess I'd say it'll be Brown Eyes or Over & Over.

I think otherwise:-

Everywhere (not Little Lies)
Say You Love Me
Songbird (midway through the set, this time, in an acoustic section)
You Make Loving Fun
Don't Stop
New Song

I think they may drop World Turning.

I like the way you think, but they'll never drop World Turning. : 0 /

sywlindseyfan 07-29-2014 03:52 AM

I think you all are forgetting "Over my Head." I also want Chris to play the first song she played live on stage after 15 years of retirement "Get Like You Used to Be"

WatchChain 07-29-2014 08:06 AM

I'm speculating that 8 Christine songs will make the set list. They will be:

Say You Love Me
You Make Loving Fun
Songbird
Everywhere
Don't Stop
Brown Eyes
Hold Me
New Song (from the recent sessions)

This would be what I'd like, except I'd substitute Little Lies for Everywhere. They can do Everywhere when they go to Europe next year. I'd really love Why, but I think there's pretty much no chance of that happening. If they did a new song from the Chris/Lindsey studio sessions, that would make up for them not playing Why.

I'd like to hear Little Lies but my instinct tells me that TITN will only get one Christine song, so it's between that and Everywhere.

I like Hold Me, but not sure how they'd do it live. The 1982 tour version was a bit ropey...

FuzzyPlum 07-29-2014 03:12 PM

My hunch is they'll want to make the whole 'Rumours band' reunion thing sufficiently different to The Dance. For that reason I think they may go for Little Lies over Everywhere.

Wdm6789 07-29-2014 08:22 PM

Please play Hold Me!

Lol I know I know.

The Christine songs I want in, other than Hold me, are:

Say you love me

You make loving fun

Little lies

Everywhere

Isn't it midnight

Love in store

Songbird would be nice of course maybe it could be paired with Landslide, if it isn't the final encore.

Don't stop, of course.

I'm only expecting one song from Tango in the night. I feel like Say you love me and You make loving fun are a sure thing. Christine and the others especially Lindsey keep saying they're doing Christine's hits. They haven't done any of Christine's Mirage songs since 1982 so it gives me hope for Hold me. I also somewhat expect they will just recycle The Dance yet again.

I am really excited to see Christine on the piano/keyboard for Sara, I know it's Stevie's, but I really want to see it live with Christine back. I hope they don't take Sara off the list.

The Chain is going to be awesome too with all five of them.

I've only seen the four of them live and I never thought I would ever see all five, so I'm pretty excited.

He's So Unusual 07-30-2014 04:56 PM

Brown Eyes and Isn't It Midnight are the two songs I'm hoping will be performed. Heart of Stone would be a nice surprise, but I doubt it will be wheeled out.

If they did Heart of Stone, I would have a Heart Attack!

I think it'll be eight songs too. Pretty much agree with the songs you listed too.

Eight songs I think it'll be-

Say You Love Me
You Make Loving Fun
Songbird
Everywhere (or Little Lies)
Don't Stop
Brown Eyes
Hold Me (or Love in Store)
Over My Head (or new song if they are doing them)

Eight songs I would like them to be-

Why
Spare Me A Little
Songbird
Brown Eyes
Never Make Me Cry
Over and Over
Love in Store
Hold Me (or new song)

Dragon 07-31-2014 04:43 PM

I expect seven songs written or co-written by Christine, traditionally played in the set, will be performed:
"Don't Stop"
"Everywhere"
"Over My Head"
"Say You Love Me"
"Songbird"
"World Turning"
"You Make Loving Fun"

I would like Christine to pull some gems from Tango in the Night that have not been performed with this lineup ever: "Little Lies" and "Isn't It Midnight."

HoursAndHours 08-01-2014 08:22 PM

I'd love to hear Think About Me if we're thinking Tusk sessions. I hear that on Muzak stations all the time, and I think it's uptempo enough to go over well. But talk about a back catalog... she could hypothetically play anything back to what, Future Games? Maybe they'll do Morning Rain. LOL.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Think About Me. It has made EVERY single greatest hits compilation I have ever made in my life.

My fantasy would have her doing
Think About Me
Hold Me
Why
Love In Store
Love Shines
As Long As You Follow.

Is that asking too much? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!:blob2:

Oh, I'd love to hear the first four, but those last two? Replace them with Over & Over and Get it like you used to be, or Brown Eyes, and I'll agree...

Same here. But like I said in another thread, I'd love to rock out to Save Me. I think if I got to choose 8 (and had to include hits), my list would be:

Think About Me
You Make Loving Fun
Don't Stop
Say You Love Me
Songbird
Everywhere
Save Me
As Long As You Follow

aleuzzi 08-03-2014 12:39 AM

In all probability, her songs will be pretty darn close to the ones she did on The Dance. There will be room for one surprise...whatever that may be.

I predict:

Say You Love Me
Don't Stop
Songbird
You Make Loving Fun
Everywhere
Over My Head

Plus: one new song and the "left of center" choice (Oh Daddy, Little Lies, Or Brown Eyes).

I wish they'd do Isn't it Midnight. Hoping. Hoping. Hoping.

I would accept your first two choices. Ledgies forever changed the meaning of Brown Eyes for me, and not for the better!:mad::mad:

When you look at me with that brown eye, what do you want to do?:lol::shocked::(

Of course they'll play it safe. It's FM! Mick has a couple more fortunes to lose.

I guess older artists don't take chances any more. Too afraid of not selling out. Oh wait...ugh....:D

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!

I'd like to see this:

Say You Love Me
Little Lies
Brown Eyes -- Why are people not including this? Wasn't it confirmed on Twitter? If this is in, Think About Me is out...do you really think two deep cuts from Tusk?
Love In Store
Oh Daddy -- The band loves this song. It has sentimental value. Wasn't it also basically confirmed on Twitter?
Isn't It Midnight
Why
You Make Loving Fun
Songbird

I'm not counting Don't Stop. That's a band song.

THIS!!! 100% No Everywhere. No Over My Head. They do Over My Head and it'll sound like schmaltzy adult contemporary pop music like it did for The Dance. We've got enough of that with Say You Love Me.

Wasn't Think About Me a single? I wouldn't really call it a deep cut. I'd also love Little Lies and Isn't it Midnight to be included in the setlist. Hoping they tour Australia next year as I don't think I can make it to the US.

Oh, you're right! I should have remembered that. Still it's a lot to ask to see more than one song by the same person from an album other than Rumours and Fleetwood Mac. I think Angel and Think About Me sound very similar sonically. It'll probably be one or the other.

SteveMacD 08-08-2014 12:25 AM

SYLM
YMLF
Don't Stop
Songbird
One or two from "Tango..,"
Maybe a new song.

Dream song: the Chicken Shack version of GLYUTB, but only with Mick, John, and Christine done after the Stevie/Lindsey acoustic set. We need to be reminded of why Fleetwood Mac made it that far to begin with. It's been a generation or two since that has happened.

ViscountViktor 08-08-2014 08:15 AM

YMLF
SYLM

Yes, "Think About Me" was the third single from Tusk. It charted. I do not think it was a major hit compared to "Tusk" and "Sara". "Think About Me" receives airplay from random music playlists at retailers.

jbrownsjr 08-08-2014 09:34 PM

^^ I hear that song a lot lately.

What can I say it's not against the law!

AliceLover 08-09-2014 09:47 AM

What we'll get:

Say You Love Me
Over My Head (God, please no)
Oh Daddy (No! No! No!)
Don't Stop
Songbird
You Make Loving Fun
Brown Eyes (Nooooooo!)
Everywhere

In my wildest dreams:

Isn't it Midnight
Little Lies
Love Shines
Skies the Limit
Save Me
You Make Loving Fun
Never Forget
Heart of Stone

Christine fans should go to Richard's tumbler too. He posted a really nice poolside picture of her in Australia, sometime between 1977-1980.

Would be great if the she performed this song. It would be such a symbolic statement; a song she performed early on, when Lindsey and Stevie joined the band. And, by rejoining the band after such a long absence, she is truly getting back to what she used to be.I really love

I'm really loving the dickdash blog. It's like a living interaction book of insight and knowledge. I hope Richard keeps it going.

It's really incredible. I love it. He may not do it for long, but in just a couple of days I feel like his little insights and pics have brought me closer to the band. I cherish the tidbits.

It has really been a great read. And he answers questions rather quickly. Great website.

I don't know which of Christine's songs we'll get this time around, and as we get closer to the start of the tour I won't read anything about it until I go to the concert in October. I want to be surprised!

I'm bracing myself for a rehash of The Dance, but I'd be really happy if they did:

Remember Me
Morning Rain
Say You Love Me
Everywhere
Spare Me A Little Of Your Love
Over & Over
Behind The Mask
Why
