"Best Of"
I hope all songs from the soundtracks tracks that Lindsey has done are included on this compilation along with any unreleased gems. I would think a couple of new songs will be included.
|
At this stage of the game, I hope they flip things, and release the new studio album this year, and the Best Of in 2019!

Folks he wasn't planning a Best Of album. Pretty sure Warners was planning it. They want to get a chunk of cash prior to him releasing his solo album. This is a large part of the reason the solo album has been pushed back, and in part why things got complicated with the tour.

However- if he’s still under contract with that label, he needs to put it out. And he should do it as fast as possible! |
Well, Lindsey's only under contract to Atlantic right now, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Plus, I would think Atlantic would want to cash in on the relative success of the Buckingham/McVie album, thus going with the new studio album. If there is an issue, it might be deciding who's going to put it out....Elektra/Asylum or Warner/Reprise. They're both part of WEA, but they each have their own marketing and promotion budget. They all kind of have to be wondering how big this album will be, what with only two hit singles on it (three if he can get the rights to "Holiday Road"). I find the whole concept of a Best Of interesting...most labels won't put them out unless A) there's a lot to work with, material wise, B) it's a contractual obligation to maybe end a contract, C) WEA is thinking of deleting his entire catalog, thus consolidating it into one album, or D) the artist wants one out. |
So, I'm not the absolute biggest of Lindsey Buckingham solo fans so I'm not in the best position to comment myself.
But...going on the premise of a 20 song disc. Would anyone volunteer a Best of Lindsey Buckingham track list suggestion??? |
This would not be my personal track list if I was compiling a Lindsey Best Of but I'd bet it will look an awful lot like this ---
Trouble Holiday Road Go Insane Slow Dancing Big Love (live, solo) Wrong Don’t Look Down Countdown Soul Drifter Never Going Back Again (live, solo) On The Wrong Side Bleed To Love Her (live) Show You How Cast Away Dreams Did You Miss Me Seeds We Sow In My World Sleeping Around The Corner Go Your Own Way (live) New Song |

i expect it to be more like 12 than 20 songs. he's not commercial and record co doesn't wanna loose too much money. some that i would love to see on Best Of - and hear LIVE!!!!! - (i'm doing purely solo, no FM, other than bonus) Down On Rodeo Twist of Fate Wait For You Gift of Screws Turn It On In Our Own Time (but that's not on Reprise so idk whether it's eligible?) Rock Away Blind (same as above) That's the Way Love Goes (same as above) Wrong Holiday Road Go Insane Seeds We Sow (electric) (same as above) You Do or You Don't This is the Time Johnny Stew Underground To Try for the Sun bonus: Red Rover GYOW Second Hand News |
Live Tracks
I think Dreamisover has it correct, FM tracks can be included if they are live versions (but not live from an FM concert, only solo). I thought a live version of Stephanie might be included, but not now after the betrayal.

His soundtracks songs must be included like Time Bomb Town.

Nineteen anythings, as long as it has DW suite in addition.
Maybe as the closer. A sweeter piece of music he's never crafted. It's my one-song-on-a-deserted island piece. |
I'd like to see a studio version of "My Little Demon" included!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Second Hand News live. And of course Fakewood Mac won't do it anymore, so I really hope it's on the setlist. :blob2: |

Call me old-fashioned. I think it should be a Singles collection.

I'd assume Atlantic or any other label would only allow a Best of Album for LB to be at minimum 50% Mac songs.
If you are making a list you probably need to cap LB solo stuff to 8-10 songs, and likely you're just looking at the songs released as singles. Probably something quite predictable like.... Go Your Own Way Second Hand News Never Going Back Again Tusk Oh Diane Big Love My Little Demon Peacekeeper Trouble Go Insane Wrong Countdown Show You How Did You Miss Me Love Runs Deeper Seeds We Sow |

Surely this will be a purely solo Lindsey Buckingham album. As people have said, Fleetwood Mac songs are only likely if they are live from Lindsey solo shows. Best of would most likely be his most notable solo songs (single releases) plus a selection of non-single releases. Not even sure it'd include Buckingham McVie songs either. We'll see. |

i don't need LB's hits. i need his Best Of. and i need to hear those songs live. |
We already have best of, and have heard multiple versions. The record companies already got us. They want to market to the biggest audience. I suspect you’ll be dissatisfied

we'll be lucky if he's allowed to put anything out. or tour. because remember band is painting him as reneging on tour promises - even though he didn't! he may be painted as too big of a risk or something. |

I doubt there will be any Fleetwood Mac songs...much like Mick not allowing Stevie to include "Silver Springs" on "Timespace", I doubt Mick (and Warner Brothers) would agree to the release of any Mac tracks.
I'm also wondering if "Holiday Road" will be included? After all, that's up there with both "Trouble" and "Go Insane" as his most recognizable and commercially successful tracks. |
What I'm expecting versus what I want;
Expecting 1) Trouble 2) It Was I 3) Holiday Road 4) Go Insane 5) Slow Dancing 6) Wrong 7) Countdown 8) Soul Drifter 9) Don't Look Down 10) Big Love (Live) 11) Shut Us Down 12) Did You Miss Me 13) Gift of Screws 14) Seeds We Sow 15) The End of Time 16) Go Your Own Way (Live) What I'd Want DISC ONE Same As Above DISC TWO 1) Dancing Across The USA 2) Time Bomb Town 3) On The Wrong Side 4) Sick of You 5) Brother and Sister 6) She Acts Like You 7) My Little Demon [Demo Remastered] 8) Peacekeeper [Demo Remastered] 9) Gotta Get Away [Demo Remastered] 10) Say Goodbye [Demo Remastered] |
Best Of Buck
Here is my current imaginary Best Of album track list.
- I limited it to 12 songs. - I excluded anything originally released as Fleetwood Mac. - I tried to be representative, but my bias for his 90s tracks (OOTC and the GOS demos) comes through. - The first half are songs that I think are listenable for the widest audience, and are mostly in major key. - The second half is more virtuoso and more minor key. - Sorry for any notable exceptions (e.g. Go Insane the song). Nothing against them! He can put them on the Best Of Volume II. 1 - You Do Or You Don't (Out of the Cradle) 2 - Wait For You (Gift of Screws) 3 - Trouble (Law and Order) 4 - Love Runs Deeper (Gift of Screws) 5 - Down On Rodeo (Under the Skin) 6 - Shut Us Down (Under the Skin) 7 - Wrong (Out of the Cradle) 8 - To Try For The Sun (Under the Skin) 9 - This Is The Time (incl. intro) (Out of the Cradle) 10 - She Acts Like You (This is 40 OST) 11 - Stars Are Crazy (Seeds We Sow) 12 - Play In The Rain (edit) (Go Insane) * No such 'edit' currently exists; I basically mean an edit that would shorten this song by limiting it more to just the first minute or so and then most of the B side. |
