Fleetwood Mac: '67-77 - Specialist subject on Mastermind (BBC TV) - Is this a Ledgie?

Hi guys

I was watching tv last night and got very excited when I heard that Fleetwood Mac was a specialist subject on this show!

For those who don't know, Mastermind is a long running UK quiz show in which the contestant answer general knowledge questions for one round but also a round on their specialist subject.

See the link below for the questions given to the Mac contestant (1 min 30-4:30). A couple of them were tough! I forgot the answer for the first one and hadn't heard the Bare Trees story before!

Also, does anyone know - is this a Ledgie? Is it you? A very big WELL DONE if so! :wavey:

p.s: I've posted this in both this and the Rumours forum since both eras are mentioned and to give as many people as possible a chance to see it,

I got a message saying it won't play because I'm not in the UK.

Can someone that can view this post what the questions were? I'm dying to know!

I used to live in the UK and remember seeing an episode of this show where a Genesis fan was being questioined and they were really good questions so I always wondered what they'd ask a hardcore Mac fan if one ever appeared on this show. :)

Oh no! Sorry guys, I thought you'd be able to view it in other territories. I'm just heading out now but will re-watch and put the questions up soon.

Nor had I ever heard this story (that the tapes for Bare Trees were destroyed when the band took them through an airport X-ray Machine) (Would it infact have such an effect ?))
Presumably not the Master tapes though or did they have to re -record the entire album ?

It was the masters but the X-ray machine at security at JFK airport messed up the mix so they didn't have to re-record anything but they had to remix it. One of the few useful/accurate things from Mick's 1990 book. :)

Nice! Thank you! I knew all the answers except where 'Songbird' was recorded.

Thanks for posting this. Yeah, I'd be toast on the general knowledge stuff which makes all the Mac stuff pointless. She did really well but I thought the wording of some questions weren't fair like if she knows Zellerbach then she's going to know the Univ but whatever, good for her, now I need to watch the rest to see if she wins the whole thing. :)

OK, congrats. I didn't get enough right answers in the available time.

I really hate the powers that be that control television in America right now! This is beyond FM, but after watching that Youtube clip, I finally "get it"! Do you really think that woman nearing 60 is going to be on an American show of Millionaire?

It's not that "Mastermind", and "Qi" are too smart for an American audience, it's that the people that are capable of such thought, are not attractive for general network TV.

BBC America execs are saying "You can't have Stephen Fry host a game panel show in America, he's an overweight homosexual with a broken nose."

What the idiots at the BBC don't understand, is that those from America who watch BBCA think like the audience that watches from England. Why else would one want to see BBC TV?

BBCA has become very shallow recenty. They never aired the third, and final series of "Ashes to Ashes".

I knew all of them except the name of the third single, Need Your Love so Bad, which I'd entirely forgotten about.

For die-hard FM fans that wasn't too difficult, but I have to say that was pretty challenging for most people. She scored pretty well, I think.

It means ,of course ,that none of us can now enter Mastermind with Fleetwood Mac as our specialist subject! (Unless it was FM 1977 to the present day of course
- not my area of expertise ! )
