I'm stuck on three Grinderman songs lately:
"Bellringer Blues" - this song has SUCH a great groove to it. And the lyrics are fantastic.
"...and we care a little bit,
and we get scared a little bit,
of those two cold dead eyes
that stare a little bit.
And we cry a little bit,
and we get by a little bit.
Let your tears
all come falling down.
We are the sole survivors, the sole survivors..."
"Kitchenette"
"...but if you wanna get your hand out of the cookie jar, you're gonna have to let go of the biscuit." Wonderfully neurotic song. Oh Nick.
"When My Baby Comes"
"Hey, hey, listen - don't do that on the carpet." Warren's violin in this one is fantastic, and I love the transition from Nick's poetry to the rest of the band rocking out.
Really, the whole new album,
Grinderman 2, is f*ckin' UH-MAY-ZING, but I can't stop listening to these three.
