Democracy for America is gathering information to help get the point accross that SS doesn't need to be messed with. They are taking stories from people who have used Social Security. I submitted my Dad's story because he lost his father in 1965 when he was only 12 years old. He had 4 younger sisters and his mother did not work. Without Social Security they wouldn't have been able to remain together as a family.
I have been thinking about this since I heard about what Bush wants to do to SS and it has added to my fury. What would my Dad's family have done without this benefit? They would have had to experience the further trauma of being split up into foster homes or with other family members. Below is a blurb from DfA and the link.
Hi,
Social Security has played an important role in my life, and I just added my story to a group of testimonials about why Social Security works.
The debate about Social Security is complicated. But if we can show how it affects real people every day, we can stop the plan to phase out the most successful social policy in history.
So what's your story? Tell it here:

Thanks!
