The REM song is based on what happened to Dan Rather. The Dan Rather incident happened 8 years
before that song came out. In the eighties, Dan says these two men attacked him and kept saying, "Kenneth what is the frequency." People thought Dan was cuckoo and REM made a song about what happened to Dan Rather, 8 years later.
