Default Fav Pre-Stevie & Lindsey FM Song?

I have just yesterday discovered the song, Sentimental Lady. OH MY GOD, I am in LOVE with it!

I listened to literally the first LINE of the song and said I LOVE THIS! Then I realised I'd heard it before, as a child, and thought it was The Beach Boys. I only associated Fleetwood Mac with Stevie's voice, nobody else's.

I love this song. It's been in my head ever since.

WOW.
So I checked Sentimental Lady out on youtube and you're so right, it's absolutely amazing. Sooo beautiful... And the lyrics are brilliant.
It doesn't sound like a song from the early 70s, I wouldn't have been surprised if I heard this on the radio yesterday. At least not before I would've recognized Chris' voice. Seems like I missed something cause I never payed this Bob Welch any attention. But this has to change. I need Bare Trees for Christmast I guess.

So thank you very much, grace_face, for starting this thread and making me aware of one of the greatest songs ever!!!

And, to answer the actual question of this thread, my fav pre BN song is still Albatross I think. There are not many better things in this world. And Man of the World is also worth mentioning. I love Peter Green.

My favorite Fleetwood Mac song, regardless of era:

OH WELL

Other than that, 98% of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs ARE "pre-Lindsey & Stevie". And about 1/2 of those are pre-Bob Welch.

My choice would be Green Manalishi and you could thank Stevie and Lindsey for introducing me to this song!

I have so many... but I guess Why will always be my favorite . My fav pre '75 era is '73-'74... SO much good music!

Runners up include:

Future Games
Remember Me
Dissatisfied
Did You Ever Love Me
Hypnotized
The Way I Feel
Bad Loser
Prove Your Love (a very, very close runner up!)

I could list most of the songs from the first half of the '70s to be truthful . I just love the Welch era... he brought such a mystical, concept-album feel to the band. Christine's material from this time is also amongst the best of her career. She seems to have lost much of her serious, even ethereal side when Buckingham and Nicks joined... instead focusing on the upbeat, pop oriented sound she's so well known for.

My favourite pre-Rumours song is "The Derelict" by the totally under-rated Mr Dave Walker

I'll go back to beating a dead horse now...

Well, there were basically two Fleetwood Mac's before Buckingham Nicks joined.

There's the Mac with Peter Green (involving one personnel addition in 1969) and there's the Mac without him from 1970-74, involving a good deal of personnel changes but held together primarily by the Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Welch quartet.

Favorite song from Mac 1968-70: Oh Well (Rolling Man making it a close second, the BBC version of Honey Hush making it a close third...)

Favorite song from Mac 1970-74: Hypnotized (Dust making it a close second, Remember Me a close third).

And Bob Welch performed this song far more often than Green himself.

"Why" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song of all time.

If one wishes to break out the 'Peter Green era' (which makes sense), I think I'll say "Man of the World" for my favorite from that era.

The majority of my favorite FM songs are from the pre-B/N era(s).

^ I have never liked Station Man, no matter who sang it. Stevie and Lindsey's version was annoying.
