Heart: Alive in Seattle
I just watched this the other night (with DTS audio) and all I can say is WOW. This is the best concert I have seen by them (I'm bummed I missed this tour). It really rocked.
Ann Wilson still has the most amazing voice. I find it amazing she is only 2 years younger than Stevie Nicks. Very high energy between her and Nancy, as well as a great setlist. The Paramount Theater in Seattle is gorgeous. Their set design was also cool and warm...with candles and lamps. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet. |

Good luck!
I bet you'll get it...straight on for you. I still can't get over how much they ROCKED it. That song Heaven, with Nancy playing her guitar with a cello stick was too cool. I got goose bumps. I must buy this DVD. I rented and watched it 3x before returning. |

Yes you did.
I saw Heart once -- it was at one of those theaters in downtown Santa Barbara, back around 1981 or 1982. David Lindley & El-Rayo X opened. They were more fun than the headliner. I liked that song HOW CAN I REFUSE? back then, & I think Heart opened with that. I thought the words "Should I drop my guard?" were actually "Should I drive my car?"

Great Concerts
Back in the day when I first saw Heart- Their opener was John "Cougar"
The only tune that any one knew was Jack and Diane, but he was amazing as well as his band. I remember the night and his voice and it still gives me chills. He finished his set and all he did throughout the hour was vocals and dancing at the mic stand, it was fun and enjoyable and he was great. For an encore he comes back on stage alone with a black accoustic guitar, and a blue /white light shining down on him and does a solo cover of The Stones- "You can't alway's get what you want"!!! I mean it was sacreligious -No one would cover The Stones!!!!! He was excellent both on guitar and vocals, you could have heard a pin drop- I'll never forget it. Then Heart came out and rocked away the rest of the night What a great memory - And how lucky I am to have grown up while this stuff was actually happening. That was a geat time in music. I mean Barracuda was a new song! And then they did (which is now signature, but at the time -sacreligious- "Battle of Evermore" (I think it was..) anyway a Led Zep cover!!!! Amazing time to be attending concerts, plus tickets were like $20.00 haha I am feeling old

^Great story!
I also enjoy the Alive in Seattle cd (and video when it airs on TV). I have a good Heart story (which I have probably told before but here it goes again!) I saw Heart for the first, and only at this point, time during the Jupiter's Darling tour a few years ago and the crowd was pretty bad in the beginning. About halfway through Ann said something like, "It's pretty empty up here" (meaning the front of the stage) so I bolted from my balcony seat and ran down the steps and down the aisle toward the stage with a bunch of others and security would have nothing of it! One guy litterally got tackled trying to rush the stage! Here comes the good part... security has both aisles blocked and there is nobody up front... Nancy Wilson comes over to the edge and is waving us up as I try and show the security guard (who still wont budge!) So Nancy comes down from the stage (STILL PLAYING Mind You) and taps the guy on the shoulder and makes him let up! I got up there and got a high five from both Ann and Nancy and had a spot right under Nancy's mic the rest of the show and the crowd was AMAZING from then on! It was one of my favorite concert moments ever!

Heart's Soundstage will be re-released on August 5. This show was recorded in March of 2005. The PBS DVD sold out in a matter of weeks. Thanks to the Heart fan club I was there in the third row, right in front of Ann! Check it out, I think you will enjoy the show.
Another DVD to check out is Dreamboat Annie Live. Recorded in April 2007 in LA at the Orpheum Theatre. The entire Dreamboat Annie is played live from start to finish. I was lucky to attend this show as well. FRONT ROW! The Heart fan club takes good care of their fans! Check out these DVD's I think you will enjoy then! |
