Default I can't sleep, with your warm ways...

feelings, thoughts on this song...?

Personally, it is one of my very favorites. Perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to call it my absolute favorite of Chris'. It's such a laid back song, yet very sexy in the lyrics and also the musical delivery. The beautiful twinkling sounds of the Fender Rhodes* underneath her warm vocals is such a perfect match!

*I'm almost 100% sure that it is a Rhodes...but please correct me if I am wrong

I agree with everything you said. It's a beautiful lullaby. It's probably her most relaxing & soothing song. I also think it's one of her sexiest songs, after "Brown Eyes". I love both of her White Album songs that weren't hit singles. They are both very underrated, in my opinion.

It sounds like a Fender Rhodes to me, but I'm sure our keyboard expert, David could confirm this.

I do like this song apart from the line "you made me a woman tonight" which I think is a bit cheesey.

Other than that it's great and one of her sexier songs.

Actually of all the mac writers I think Christine's are the most sexy as opposed to sexual.

Let's hear it for Christine! I love "Sugar Daddy" too, which is just about the funnest track on that white album.

I immediately remember august 1988. It was my second trip to the US, practically the first since the really first one was when I was 7 in 1973.

I was 22 and I just had bought the tape that contained both the white and Rumours albums. And I found this great song Warm Ways, I learned to love it while I was driving early in the morning thru the Turnpike, from NJ to DC... What a great vacation.. and great music.. (all my cousins and brother were sleeping.. so I played all my Mac tapes I just had bought)

So, I'm not the only one who thinks that. I think Chris can be a bit too sappy at times. And Sugar Daddy is just hilarious. I can't keep a straight face when I sing along to it. Yes, your love is aaaaaaaaaaalll I neee-heeeeed!

Yes sometimes I think she used to be a bit lazy with her lyrics.

Honey Hi - "dont take the love light away, cos I'm far away from home"

A bit of a cliche I feel.

I didn't used to like Warm Ways too much, but it really grew on me. It's so sweet, she sounds like she's so in love!

I never really thought about it, but now that you mention it, the song is quite soothing! I really do dig this song. Ive always liked it. Definitely one of the first FM songs I ever heard. I remember playing this one over and over along with Blue Letter on my moms Fleetwood Mac CD.

"I can't slee
eee
eeep
with your warm wayeee
eez"

There was a thread a little while ago about FM California songs, and if I had thought of it, I would have put this song on my list. Even though Chris is "waiting for the sun to come up..." the song for me is filled with warm 70's afternoon sunlight - the kind you get in an upstairs West-facing apartment - dreamy, hazy, making you too hot to move.

Does anyone have a favorite live recording of "Warm Ways? Are there any circulating?

I believe, afaik, it's one of the few songs, never performed live(Sugar Daddy was another). I think I have a rehearsal of it, SOMEWHERE, which is pretty rough.

Homer, you probably do have that rehearsal version. I sent it to you a while back. And, yes it is very rough. The album version is way better, in my opinion.
