![]() interesting statement from Stevie in some new interview, advertising her retro solo album, that just showed up on FM N&R:
Buckingham, Nicks says, would be happiest if she didn’t do anything other than Fleetwood Mac. “He knows that’s never going to happen, so that is, I think, his biggest problem with me,” she says. “I wish that he could not care. " whole article here http://www.out.com/entertainment/mus...nicks?page=0,1 not sure that his problem is that she not doing only FM, or that she's not putting FM first, but i guess that's just semantics. (considering he's doing solo stuff too, i don't see him conditioning other FM members with no solo, only mac. i guess the difference is he doesn't put solo needs ahead of the mac needs - and how i wish he did! ![]()

If Lindsey's solo career had been the success that Stevie's was, I'm sure he'd be more inclinded to focus more attention on solo work than he does as I imagine it's far more creatively rewarding for him than the constrants of Fleetwood Mac. I do always get the impression that Lindsey has been rather bitter at times over his lack of solo success. Might not be the case today, but it certainly has been. |

![]() At times, sure. But that doesn't seem to be the case today. He seems to have become a realist about the whole thing. The issue here is Stevie getting caught in a time warp and pretending this is 30 years ago, when Lindsey was indeed holding a grudge because of her solo success.

![]() I don't think it is just semantics and I actually think the crux of the matter is actually that he'd rather she just worked with him (as opposed to running to Dave for help), which I know you won't agree with. At the moment, Fleetwood Mac is the vehicle that allows them to work together and without it, she doesn’t have to rely on him or work alongside him for her music, something he has taken and takes great pride in doing (the "soulmate who knows exactly what to do with her music"), and that’s why FM is mentioned in this context. I’m fairly certain he’d be JUST as happy (probably more so) if she didn’t do anything other than Buckingham Nicks, or just anything where they can publicly work together, tbh. I DO think what you're saying partly comes into that. He probably has been and is frustrated when her group work is put on the shelf in order for her to do solo work (or that's at least what it SEEMS like to him) whereas he feels the opposite is true for him. *cue harping on about solo work being hijacked* And he took that agreement and those years and gave us some fantastic albums and tours. Now, he's been ready to move onwards, forwards? And she apparently hasn't been. So that IS a problem of sorts but I don't think it's the whole of the problem Stevie's talking here that he has with her work. One thing, though. We are not privy to their private discussions, legal agreements, etc. We don't know there was no 'explicit agreement'. We don't even really know what the whole of their initial plan was (in regards to timing and the new album), We don't know if or when changes were made to it if a tacit or binding agreement existed. And so on. I did think it was well amusing last year when she talked in her Landslide introduction about how she managed to do both solo/FM and it didn’t ruin the band, etc, and how she made sure to look straight at Lindsey and get acknowledgement that it was true. ![]()

![]() I do think Stevie's draw has fallen flat as well. When you start seeing them pop up on Casino billboard's, the days of filling up arenas are over.
Whereas FMac has just added yet another show to Los Angeles. And ticket's for a front row seat are $10,000. Hardly a casino price.

![]() You got it. Stevie and her fans are still acting like it's 1981 when she did not need the band. Today, her appeal as a solo artist is very limited. It seems she hasn't come to terms with that yet.

![]() she's just been saying too many nicer things about him lately. time to switch it up; keep him on his toes
![]() Richard Dashut has acknowledge this on his blog. That Lindsey resented her success and wished he'd had similar success. Last edited by bombaysaffires; 09-12-2014 at 11:01 AM.. |

Lindsey is unhappy with her right now because she put her solo needs in the way of the band album.

![]() Do you think that Lindsey was lying when he said they had no intention of releasing new music before this tour?
