Default anyone know about Tinnitus?

I woke up around 4am this morning and noticed a high pitched, constant tone in my right ear. It's masked if I'm out and about or talking to people. I only hear it when it's quiet (or if I stick my finger in my ear.) What's odd is that it's only in the right ear.

I don't know if I would call this tinnitus.. at least in the sense of an elevated degradation of hearing disproportionate to one's age. I think its pretty common to hear that type of sound in complete silence- especially if you focus on it in the middle of the night. If its apparent when you're in conversation or in another activity with consistent background noise, it may be tinnitus, or something like it.

Does your ear otherwise hurt at all? Perhaps its infected.

I've noticed myself that, every so often (once a month? ), at a seemingly random time, I'll hear an annoying high-pitched sound in one or both of my ears. I've never bothered to find out if this is normal/common, but I personally don't think your problem is anything to worry about yet - if it becomes increasingly regular and/or starts to cause pain, however, then definitely see a doctor about it.
(Sorry I can't be much more helpful...)

Doesn't hurt. I flush my ears out once or twice a week with an ear cleaning solution (i'm paranoid about ear wax). And the noise is still in my ear. So going on 12 hours now I've had this ringing.

Wait, you mean it hasn't stopped? See a doctor.
