My parents are friends with a woman who's really allergic to fish. We'd eat out and she'd tell the waitress in her most dramatic and loud voice: "The chef must not put fish on my plate or I'll die. Having a food allergy is a serious thing but if you went out with someone to a restaurant and they loudly and dramatically went off on their allergy tangent, would you not be sort of embarassed?

My aunt has no allergy to food but she wants to know what's in EVERYTHING, how many calories (the woman weighs 100 lbs, if that), what's it made out of, etc. We're talking salad dressing...not just the actual meal. A while ago we all went out to eat and she started in on her twenty-thousand questions with the poor waitress. The rest of us had already ordered and she goes to hand the menu back to her and says, "sorry we're such a pain!" So, I look at the waitress and say, "correction. the only pain is to my left and she's sorry." Needless to say, we've not been out to dinner since
