Maybe it's a Midwestern thing, but I don't think I've ever even SEEN a scone.
What the hell is a scone?

there are scones in the midwest. i promise! they're dry, slightly sweetened biscuits. sometimes they have cranberries or raspberries or orange peel or something in them. they're supposed to be eaten with tea or coffee.

^^^The top pic just looks like biscuits. Are they similar?

Okay. And of course I've HEARD of them. I just realized that I've never actually seen, or had, one.

my coffee shop sells scones.
we have white chocolate raspberry, apple cinnamon, blueberry, brown-sugar cinnamon, and chocolate chunk. they have 40 grams of fat a piece, and are made by pillsbury. no thanks. i gain a pound just looking at them. they really just aren't as specialty gourmet and trendy as the yuppie-****s here think they are. but hey, i'll take that 1.49 and split your .51 tip at the end of my shift, thanks. we have plain mix to make any type of scone, but i'm just not gonna go buy a bunch of buttermilk and then scrub my knuckles off getting orange peel. nope.
