Love that burns
I know that FM played Love that burns live in London.
A friend told me his girlfriend was so touched she cried. Someone else with similar memories? Please let us know... |

I posted this on a thread about Colour Me Pop
http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showth...t=45517&page=2 This is some of the text “It was I who posted on that site about seeing the tribute when Peter quit. It was on an edition of Late Night Line Up on BBC2. a live magazine prog broadcast at perhaps 10.30 every night. I believe the clip they used was Love That Burns .(but I might be conflating (Ooh Matron!) I also of course saw the Fleetwood Mac Colour Me Pop when it was broadcast Peter used his Les Paul on all songs , to the best of my recollection ,except , in a filmed insert of Need Your Love So Bad,…… “ (end of quote ) This was particularly moving ,for not only did you have the emotion of Peter’s playing and singing but you had the added poignancy that he was leaving the band and I knew it would never be the same again! I had similar feelings when some DJ played a track from Blues Jam at Chess on the radio as a tribute to Peter’s quitting the Band I was near to tears then (looking back on that time it was almost like a bereavement for me (though at that time I hadn’t experienced any one close to me dying I now realise that was the emotion )! And I saw them play Love that Burns live at the Surrey rooms this is my original posting about that gig http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=45827 |

Love that Burns ( Mr Wonderful version is possibly Peter at his most emotional ,and is a master class in economy of style and maximum expression –the way he waits and waits….. and waits a bit more before entering his guitar break, and then, when he does , it’s with that pleading crying note ………

Horn section on Peter's Mr Wonderful tracks
Anyway, this talk about this track ,which has saxes on it ,made me think about those Peter Green tracks on Mr Wonderful that had a horn section.
Does anyone know of they ever played them live with a horn section ? I personally love the sax riffs on Stop Messin’ Round and If You be my Baby. I think( correct me if I’m wrong please) that Danny didn’t ever attempt to play the sax riffs when he was on second guitar duty before breaking out into both of them doing call and response type breaks - when they played them live This is great shame I think- but understandable, as it is very repetitive for a guitarist to do this (yet it is the mark of the man that Peter, one of the greatest guitarists available to humanity was happy to do this repetitive stuff for Jeremy when required (example : My Heart Beat Like A Hammer) |

I believe it was a one of studio thing to get a specific "old-school" sound. |
