Thanks for the heads-up, becca. Not sure whether I'll be able to find this very easily in the US but I'll see if I may be able to track it down.
Interesting that it has an article on Amon Düül II in the issue as well - another Fleetwood Mac tie-in! That group was discussed briefly in the current "Munich 1970: Is it possible Peter Green discovered Krautrock?" thread and I believe they've been brought up here on the Ledge before. |

Barnes & Noble is supposed to carry it in store, and eventually a couple of U.S. ebay selllers will offer it (bit of a delay though as it's a U.K. magazine).

Just saw that a very good local magazine shop carries Shindig so I should be able to check it out when this issue is available here.

Mine's on a slow boat from England it seems. Maybe next week.
The mag has been a bit harder to get ahold of lately though. |

Finally it arrived. Six pages of text about the Kiln House to Bare Trees days including comments from Mick, a sidebar review of period non-FM albums, plus six photos I don't remember seeing before. Also two pages on Amon Duul II (unrelated) for what that's worth. Lots of respect for Kirwan and Welch, and Mick states "Without this period there would be no band". So Buckingham-Nicks are presaged retrospectively. We know had that line-up never happened these would still be three wonder-filled quality albums and one great single.

Goddam, why didn't I check these boards more often. I often see the magazine but have never bought it. But issue 49 with The Mac looks great, CRB also. And now Faces in the new issue. I need to seek out copies of both. Thanks for posting. Now to search them out.

I didn't know Danny wrote "Albatross."

Uh-Oh
I just ordered a copy. Did I make a mistake? |

It reads "Kirwan had been taking on an increasingly prominent role since his delicate instrumental, 'Albatross'"
He did play on the song and contribute to it, but yeah, I wondered about that too. With Mojo Magazine #6 as a 10 and something totally lame in your local paper being a 1, I'd give this Shindig about a 7 for the new Mick commentary and some photos I haven't seen before. |

It's quite nice. I managed to buy a copy. If nobody beats me to it i'll try and scan it and post over the weekend. Some of the photo's have appeared before in Mick's last photo book (paperback, cant remember the name now, I have it upstairs but kids are asleep.) There's a nice shot of Danny and Christine together with drinks in their hands.
Where does this interview come from? I don't remember this text being in Mick's latest book. My other question concerns the fact these sort of stories are featured in monthly magazines when theres a reissue about to be released, see latest issue of Shindig which features The Faces who have just released an album/cd box. I saw a reissue label announcing Future Games being released but with the green cover, not yellow and this green cover is also posted on the Shindig feature. Anyone know anything about this? We had the recent vinyl reissues with yellow cover so why would a label be promoting the green cover. Curious! |

You're a bit more generous than I. Got my issue today and read through it. No new information, but a few errors of fact that could have easily been remedied with more careful line editing! Danny Kirwan's first solo album, for instance, is not SECOND CHANCE. And there were some sloppy style and grammar errors, too. Mick has compelling things to say about Bob Welch, but the journalist doesn't. No mention is made of Christine's musical contribution to either Future Games or Bare Trees, and the three post-Kirwan albums are dismissed in one sentence. I did enjoy Kirwan getting his due. And I thought it was great of Mick to speak so justifiably well of him. |
