Think About It cover from 1977
News to me - I just found out that Think About It was recorded by Rusty Wier back in 1977 before Stevie's version!

Thank you so very much for sharing this. THIS HAS BLOWN MY MIND!
I knew Fleetwood Mac did Think About Me in the studio, I never heard of this Rusty person but beautiful voice. Can we get David, SteveMacD, aleuzzi, or our other intelligent Ledgends to give us a briefing on this, please? Was Stevie kind of like a Carole King selling her songs for others to record? I.E. Sorcerer to Marilyn Martin and If You Ever Did Believe to Carole King's daughter He actually sings very well. As an aside, listening to him sing Don't Let Me Down Again. |

I noticed that too. He comments on everything so it is odd he is not around lately. Hope he is ok.

I listened to Rusty’s version and it’s warm, homely and, above all, convincing. Somehow, those lyrics sound genuine coming from his throat. There’s no drama or flash in either the arrangement or his reading, so I’m thinking he must have covered the song because he could identify with its message as s wanted to illuminate the words. There’s no greater complement to a songwriter than that. And it sure beats the hell out of Englebert Humperdink’s cover of “Say You Love Me.” Last edited by aleuzzi; 03-30-2021 at 07:19 AM.. |

It's hard to believe in 2021 there's still so many buried treasures out there. Who knew such an awesome take of Think About It from 1977 no less, even existed. To me it speaks to the what was the prowess of Stevie Nicks songwriting chops at the time. How wonderful it would have been to have had her continue down the road of writing quality, universal songs that others record. Now that's, a legacy!

The video credits it as a co-write between Stevie and Roy Bittan. Sure sounds like it could be him playing piano on it.
And where she sings "fortune is your life's love" he sings "fortune is your life's blood"

..Then by the logic of "Seven Wonders," shouldn't Rusty get a credit as a co-writer for his "life's blood"?

I wonder if Marilyn Martin or Louise Goffin made and lyrical changes to Sorcerer and Ever Did Believe |

My understanding was that the co-composer credit to Roy is for 1981 because he wrote the musical bridge. I guess even though this guy recorded it in 1977, he credits it to Stevie's album credits? Or does Youtube auto fill the credits?
I second your question about her knowing Roy in 1977 because I remember she said Jimmy pulled the BD band together. Stevie and Roy were very busy with their own bands from 75-77 so I'm not sure their paths would've crossed. |
