Either way, is it really that big a deal? You said he's a good teacher. So he said one thing one time that you didn't agree with and found inappropriate. Don't we all. Take a deep breath and move on.
No, he wasn't joking at all. He was very vociferous, actualleh. (ak-chew-uh-leh)

I believe I said before that I wouldn't die.

But then, I hardly think anything is offensive. We can say it's not a big deal, and move on, and again I'm not going to die.
But I still think it's hella lame. I'd rather find some way to change his thinking about "whores" and what that means, but that is quite the challenge.
Sesly, though, that was totally weak. What a petty insignifigant thing to judge people on. And then he is a teacher and he said it out loud!
Okay, yeah, I do find it pretty offensive.
To me it's kinda like a racial slur or something. It is THAT illogically insulting.
and I'm not even a ho. lol.

It's a bit like saying...for instance..."poor people don't want to work!" or...."black people something something!" or "homeless people blahdeserveit!"

It's one of those "tiny" things people ignore, that are still wrong. *shrug*

Whatever I do, it will probably be polite. Which is probably why I didn't say something this eve.

Obviously, it's not a massive deal in practice.

In the way that there won't be a bunch of action surrounding it.

This person's overall intent is very good.
I understand people say things.

But in my head, and to my sense of logic, it's pretty effing important.
I really think it is wrong.
Really.
And again, I'm not a person who thinks much is inappropriate, but this qualifies.

If he doesn't know, perhaps I could kindly apprise him of the other side's opinion about what he said. That seems polite.
Maybe he has just not thought logically of the ramifications of his opinion.

I don't think chiding this teacher is the best route. I think a comeback right in class, something like: "Two guys in a week? What a crime ... especially if she had five guys knocking at her door."

Yeah. Exactly.
It was hard to formulate a snappy comeback at the time, because he was very serious and disgusted about the whole thing. Passionate, if you will.
And I'm not that good at that, anyways. Sigh. I think I only just had a dirty look on my face the rest of the class. Hardly maturely effective. But I couldn't help it...
Wait - isn't a comeback chiding? Chiding is teasing, kind of, right? Sooo...wouldn't a snappy comeback have been chidulous?
I actually thought that saying something maturely and calmly and logically and unemotionally after class would have been the best way. If i had been capable of that, i probably would have done so. (although, in theory, we should all probably applaud any diplomacy I might be able to manage.)

To bad you were not there.
Alas, here was me:

He said Whore and Gross. He was judging a theoretical person's sexual activity. But not just judging in his head, but using the words "whore" and "gross" out loud to us.
Bet you can guess if I thought it was inappropriate or not...

could he have been trying to sway your opinions by using those kinds of words? sort of like asking a leading question?

He's speaking my kind of language. I wish I had teachers like that.

Not appropriate. Not at all. Oh well, I guess he's proven himself to be a close-minded opinionated ass.

Oh, I know, you could wear a scarlet "A" to class, and see what happens. In fact, get some other men and women to wear them, but never say a word!

I think what your professor said is completely inappropriate, however, I would not say anything to him until the grades are in. My dimestore psychology, and 70's rap group experience says he has some issues to process, and you might not want to get into it.
It's too bad that he let the comment slip (and even worse that he has that opinion) especially if he is a good teacher, because I am sure there are many students who have lost respect for him. Words like that can get a teacher into a lot of trouble. If you like him, otherwise, you could send him a letter after the class has ended, and tell him how disappointed you were. If you don't, you can zing him in the evaluation at the end of the session.

Yeah, like a large store of sex toys that he has "Christian" guilt over because they are so "sinful".
