I'm a HUGE celebrity nut. I don't read all that crap in the tabloids, but I LOVE meeting celebs, and when I've done so, I do so w/ respect, cause I still realize they are all just people like me. They might sing or be in movies, but I really do love meeting them. Most anyone I've met is someone I've wanted to meet. When I met Dustin Hoffman, I stumbled onto that, but it was a great experience.
It's mostly musicians that I meet, and I want to meet them cause they have brought me so much, it's fun meeting them. Anytime I've met a celeb it's not about "OMFG, I LOVE YOU, can you break down a line in this song".... it's about, "WOW, great show, and thanks for being available to the fans that care and respect your work."

What I could give a sh*t/f**k less about is politicians. ANYTHING to do w/ politics I could care less about. I can't convey how NOT interested I am by their antics. I find NONE of them (past or present) inspiring or worth wanting to know more about.

ONLY, ONLY, if my vote also got me a private concert with Ms. LuPone (where I might just snip her hair while she sang 'Argentina' to complete my Broadway Diva wig)

Exactly. I mean, none of us are chasing Mac members around like paparazzi (I don't think?) But many of us have gone to several concerts and a few here have made an effort to try to meet band members several times. Some might consider this an obsession.

Seems kind of ironic David, considering your signature is a collage of you meeting various celebrities.

I think society has become obsessed with celebrity to the point of being scary. It used to be that you had to have some sort of talent or skill or had done something remarkable to get the attention and recognition of a "celebrity". But now anyone can basically gain instant celeb status and have their story or photo splashed across a magazine - or the internet - just for doing or saying something stupid.

But really, who'd want that? The world has become far too dangerous for fame: Obnoxious papps ruining special private moments, rabid fans hunting you down, ppl trying to get into your yard, following you into the bathroom at public places, harassing your assistants and housekeepers even, not to mention the users, haters and don't forget the psychos. And everyone w their camera phones and micro cams. Celebrity is def. an obsession the public keeps feeding.
