Default BluesBand concert for Vets?

There's a concert scheduled 3/28 in Palm Springs to raise money for 'Scars to Freedom,' a nonprofit aimed at providing free scar treatment and recovery services to war veterans. The line-up includes Mick, and unless it's Mick doing a solo appearance, I'm thinking it's probably with the Blues Band. Way to show your big ol' heart for a great cause, Mick! (This is during a break between the Mac's tour dates.)

Hollywood is coming to the desert as entertainment moguls from producer/rapper Timbaland to legendary musician Mick Fleetwood and a star-studded list of others are set to perform an exclusive concert for soldiers and war veterans in Indian Wells this month.

The first Scars to Freedom black-tie charity gala is scheduled for March 28 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa.

Proceeds will benefit Scars for Freedom Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Indian Wells that aims to provide free scar treatment and recovery services to war veterans.

The event has already invited 500 servicemen and women to attend free of charge, and expects more than 5,000 other guests and celebrities, said Guadalupe Ponte, a dermagraphic specialist at the Scar Treatment Center of the Desert and founder of Scars to Freedom.

First lady Michelle Obama also will address the soldiers at the event via satellite, said gala executive producer Brian Quintana, with the concert to be simulcast to troops all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well I hope this gets Timba and Mick to talking about the new Fleetwood Mac album, which needs a producer. . .

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Hey TrueFaith, there's something you could suggest to Mick about when you see him March 20th @ Barnes & Noble! Timbaland giving Fleetwood Mac a hip hop treatment? Stevie Nicks with a Missy Elliot or Lil Kim sound....now that could be interesting!!!!

Speaking of Stevie, this benefit sounds so much like something she would support, considering her involvement with wounded service people in the past. Wouldn't it be cool if she appeared at this also? However, it's on the 28th and the Mac play in Canada the 25th and 26th, don't they? That's asking a lot of travel and not much time for preparation, but still, it would sure be great to see her do a couple of numbers. C'mon, Stevie!

Well think of what he did for that song Apologize. And there's lots of rock songs on his Shock Value album. Even a track with Elton John.

Sorry if I sounded like I was snickering about Timbaland and how he could work with the Mac. I asked my son (who lives and breathes all music -- rap, hip-hop, classic rock, classical, and just about everything in between), and he told me Timba is very eclectic and very talented....speaking of Apologize, I do.... Sometimes I hear artists labeled "rap" and instantly dismiss them -- just like my parents used to hear "rock-n-roll" and dismiss that, too. My bad.

I'm still anxious to hear more about this benefit concert. Timbaland, Mick....who else might appear?

First Lady Michelle Obama will speak to the crowd at the gala via satellite. A concert will be simulcast all over the world, according to Brain Quintana, gala executive producer. Headliners Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood have confirmed they will perform at the concert, along with rapper producer Timbaland. Comedian Jack Black will entertain guests at the gala dinner, said Arias. “This thing has developed a life of its own,” said Ponte, noting all the press and media attention generated since a September article written by Lance Corporeal Nicholas M. Dunn was published in the Marine base newspaper, The Observation Post.
