'All My Children' alum to quit

David Canary who plays Adam Chandler on long-running soap opera “All My Children” is leaving the show. The reason given is the actor who lives in Connecticut does not want to move to Loa Angels. Recently, it was announced that the daytime drama would be moving production from New York to Los Angeles.

From 1983 until last year, Canary played “Stuart” who was Adam’s twin brother. “Stuart” was killed off the show by “Adam.” Before joining the cast of “All My Children” in 1983, Canary played Candy Canaday on the hit long-running drama “Bonanza” from 1967 to 1970. He reprised his “Bonanza” role from 1972 to 1973.

Canary will be seen on “All My Children” until the end of April, and he has only good things to say about the show. According to the actor’s written statement his departure from the show will leave the door open for a possible return. Canary promises viewers will be “happy with how Adam departs, and says that the door isn’t closed.” He went on to say, “this is not the last you’ve seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler clan.” He also thanked his many fans for love and support through the years.

On January 5th of this year “All My Children” celebrated its 40th anniversary and the daytime drama continues to be one most popular soap operas.

Canary won a combined five Emmy awards for Outstanding Lead Actor for both his “All My Children” roles.

I will miss him greatly. Besides Susan Lucci, he was the show's central character. I hope she leaves the show too so I can stop watching it forever. I have been watching AMC for 33 years now. But for the past two years it has been so boring in so many ways.

On the other hand I love its sister soap, One Life To Live. It would be great if Erica Kane and Adam Chandler were to suddenly relocate to Llanview, Pennsylvania!

i watched this show for many, many years, tho haven't in a long time~ adam chandler & stuart were such a huge part of the show, i can't imagine him gone~

is palmer cortlandt still on the show?~
