She can throw together a really good - and filling - French onion soup sorta thing, too.

Oh, thanks for this. When I could only find 2 of them, I was really disappointed. Glad you added this one to our collection.

When was this written? Which husband is she talking about?

Eddie and I would guess Mamma Maria's Portuguese steak is a recipe from his family. Maybe passed down to her during one of those nights in Estoril.

If you're not familiar with it, you should check out that song. Some people think it's one of her all time best. It's on the Time album.
I think that John mentioned that he and Christine share a recipe now and then. So, I'm pretty sure she could name some dishes she makes that were that husband's favorite. I'd love to see one of those . Michele |

If you like Christine, you should pick it up. "Sooner or Later" is a wonderful song of hers from that album!

Do you like Christine McVie? Pretend it's a Christine McVie solo album & just listen to her tracks.

Palm Beach Post (FL), April 13, 1989 Section: FOOD TOP MUSICIANS ROCK 'N' ROLL IN KITCHEN David Plotnikoff, Los Angeles Times News Service When they're on stage, they may be able to send a crowd of 50,000 fans soaring to the heights of musical ecstasy, but when they're in the kitchen performing for an audience of four, rock stars are, alas, mere mortals. How comforting to know that even the most privileged of these modern-day arena gladiators must occasionally strip off the black-leather-and-Sp andex armor, don an apron and go one-on-one with the instruments of cuisine. Robin Le Mesurier and Peggy Sue Honeyman-Scott have documented some great (and less-than-great) culinary performances in their new book Rock 'n' Roll Cuisine (Billboard Books, $12.95), a collection of celebrity recipes. Le Mesurier, a former Playboy bunny who's married to the lead guitarist of the Rod Stewart Band, and Honeyman-Scott, the widow of Pretenders' guitarist James Honeyman-Scott, spent two years collecting recipes and candid photos from almost 90 of the biggest names in contemporary rock. The handwritten submissions, many embellished with artistic flourishes, are like pages pilfered out of personal scrapbooks. The recipes range from the exquisite to the inedible (we'll get to the latter category in a moment). If this book is any indication, seafood -- particularly shellfish-- is currently at the top of the pops menu. There's everything from AC/DC's scallops and Fleetwood Mac's baked fish to Quiet Riot's Provencal sea bass and Mick Jagger's shrimp curry. Debbie Harry, who used to lead the band Blondie, submitted an outstanding recipe for nutty shrimp that could keep an entire band of hungry rockers toiling away in the kitchen for more than an hour. Harry's formula calls for coating the shrimp in a tasty mixture of wheat germ, sesame seed and Japanese rice flour. |
