My memory is somewhat hazy but I think I remembered reading that she found out he was sleeping with some teen age girl on the side. Plus you know, he kept wrecking her cars and spending her money.

I bet that's exactly how it was for her, with those guys. I really do think the music industry is one of the last refuges of old-style sexism left in the world. Worse, maybe, even than the film industry. On a sidebar: I was listening to Patti Smith the other day and thinking that there's stuff on 'Horses' that's every bit as narcissistic, self-indulgent and impenetrable as the worst of SN, but Smith got away with it much more because she wasn't pretty and dressed like a man. That's how it seems to me, anyway. THANKS for posting the article, btw. |
