From where I grew up, they say 'warsh' instead of 'wash'. It took me quite awhile to break the habit after I moved out of the area.

My dad used to say "warsh" all the time, until I finally said, "Dad, there's no "r" in that word," and he started correcting himself. ![]() Other popular mispronunciations around here include "chimley," "fustrated," and... not even sure how to spell this... "rohf." It's supposed to be "roof" but it rhymes with "woof." And I do NOT say, nor have I EVER said, "yinz." (Comprabable to Texans' "y'all.")
