12-13-84 Frankfurt Show
The band member who speaks sounds jamacan or something like that, and he announced Peter 1st, then the rest of the band, then Jeff Wittaker last...there was some mention of the "making me feel like a star"...and love stuff(but that could be a semi-standard type of mention many artists use during live performances). The Stuttgart mention I don't hear.
The track listing is different than the Stuttgart, and they didn't do Crying Won't bring you back....plus the order of some of the songs are different...I think you need a copy of what I recieved to actually figure this mystery out. |

I think it's clear that there are two different shows. I listened to the Stuttgart show yesterday, and it's the same show that sharksfan describes. Jeff Whittaker actually says: "so nice to be back in Stuttgarten again" between two songs. There's no mention of Frankfurt, and the tracklist is indeed different. So Stuttgart probably is 15/12/84 and Frankfurt 13/12/84, that make sense. As you say, the "making me feel like a star" thing was probably something of a routine for Jeff. |

Frankfurt 12-13-84
Plus, there is a song...Stay Out (of my life) not positive about the title, that I'm not familiar with...during this song, Peter is mainly a background singer and player, looks like a song the rest of the band was "out front" on.
Also...this is an excellent audience recording...about an A rating nonetheless. Last edited by robm; 03-01-2007 at 03:30 AM.. |

Robm - thanks for sending me the copy of the Frankfurt show Although the early '80s period of Peter's work is not my favorite, I think this show is one of the best I've heard from that time. The sound quality is excellent, a little better than the Stuttgart show (which has near-excellent sound). And Peter seemed to be in very good form at Frankfurt, I think he showed a bit more energy than at the Stuttgart show a couple of nights later.
I'm also not familiar with the "Stay Out (Of My Life)" song at the Frankfurt show. Jeff Whittaker or one of the other band members takes the lead vocal on this. |

80's/late 70's
I was introduced to the Original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green in 1979, and just loved it! At the time his solo albums Little Dreamer and In the Skies had or just came out, and we played those to death....then the White Sky, Kolors, and Whatcha Gonna Do Now (not in that order, I believe) came out in the early 80's, and felt they were not quite as good as the LD and ITS. But I was hooked. Got into post Mac up till Penguin...then gave up on them...sounded like a pop band after that. But kudos to Mick for keeping a career goin'.

I don't know if this is interesting , but I looked up the musicians in
the Kolors band and what other bands they played in: Guitar: Alfred Kari Bannerman - Ghana/London played in: - HI-LIFE INTERNATIONAL - Osibisa http://prempeh.org/photos/week13.html Seems to be a highly regarded guitar player... Bass: Willie Bath - London Played in: - ROUGH DIAMOND - Lux De Lux - THE JACKIE LYNTON BAND Seems like he played in blues/pub band mostly. Drums: Greg Terry-Short - THE JACKIE LYNTON BAND - DOUG FERGUSON Keyboards: Emanuel Rentzos - Ghana/London - Osibisa Jeff Whittaker - Stephen Stills - J.J. Jackson The J.J Jackson (an obscure soul legend) also has Larry Steele on bass, who played on "White sky"...There seems to be a connection between most of the musicians who played with Greeny in the early 80's. Boring, eh? |

I can give you chapter and verse on this particular era, including, if interested, a complete list of gigs dates and venues.

I guess all of us Peter Green fans here would be very interested in that list (and whatever other information you have) . |

I'll second the welcome, Bassman, and I agree that many of us here would be most interested in any light you can shed on Peter's activities during this time. It's certainly one of the least-known periods of his career and we'd love to hear anything more you're able to tell us about the Kolors tours, recording sessions, etc. Thanks.

Kolors
Hi guys and thanks for the welcome, there are almost exactly one year's worth of gigs, probably more than any of you thought. The line up for all but the last was
Peter Greenbaum, Alfred Bannerman, guitar Jeff Whittaker, percussion Greg Terry-Short, drums Willie Bath, bass Emanuel Rentzos, keyboards, replaced for the final gig by sax player Pat Kyle. looking at past posts, made some time ago, there was indeed a gig at the Sinkassen in Frankfurt on 13th December 1984 and the Stutgart gig was at The Maxim on 15th December 1984. When I have a minute I will put up the definitive list. |
