We had a cat named Venus.

My aunt had 13 cats, most of which were named after characters from Sanford & Son (Fred, Grady, Esther, etc).

A friend of mine (who now has about 9 cats) used to have around 30. He used to rescue them...

He said it all started when he was working at the animal shelter and a guy turned up with a mum and six kittens. The shelter was full so the guy said "well I'll just dump them in the bush". So of course Terry and his wife took them in... So started their collection of abandoned kitties... He was a big Bob Dylan fan so he had a cat called Dylan, another called Zimmerman, etc.

As for regal cat names (getting back on topic) sorry but can't help. We were the most unoriginal cat naming people you have ever met. We have Pepsi and Soda, added another one we named Cola (my avatar), and then added a feral kitten we named Solo. See, not exactly good with cat names! At least we always get a laugh when we go to the vet.

I thnk this is without a doubt the gayest thread in the entire history of the ledge.

And that is saying a lot.

Damn it I hate that term. Used to work with a girl who said very loudly one day "This computer is so GAY!". I had to drag her very quickly into the office and point out that standing about 2 metres away from her when she said that was one of our gay staff members.

i'm gay, and i have little issue with the word, especially when it is being so damned literally, as in this case.

i mean, we are talking about polling THE LEDGE (gay) for a ROYAL-SOUNDING NAME (gay) for a CAT (gay).

this. thread. is. gay.

is that term bant-worthy these days?

i don't think it's any secret that the ledge has welcomed more gays than fire island. it is (or was) a pretty gay place.

Congrats on getting a cat. I think you'll come up with the right name after watching her for a bit. If I might quote a name of a Joe Walsh album to you:

"You Bought It You Name it."

You and your family really are in the best position to come up with a proper name. Personally, I tend to use common human names for cats, so I can call out to them and be pointedly ignored.

Good luck Ethan.

I must admit I thought the same thing - who the hell asks a bunch of strangers what they should name a new pet that they'll probably have for several years?
