Easily one of the better films of this age. Disturbing as hel though.

I have too many to list, but some are Sunset Blvd., Gone With the Wind, Cavalcade, all of the fairly recent Jane Austin flicks, Age of Innocence (just beautiful) and so on.

Okay, I'm about to show my youth and shallowness here...

Top Ten (for the moment):

1. Quills (2000, R)
2. Gladiator (2000, R)
3. The Big Lebowski (1998, R)
4. Clay Pigeons (1998, R)
5. Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001, R)
6. Fight Club (1999, R)
7. Ratatouille (2007, G)
8. The Departed (2006, R)
9. Bubba Ho-Tep (2003, R)
10. Saved! (2004, PG-13)

Runners Up:
Army Of Darkness (1992, R), Being John Malkovich (1999, R), The Breakfast Club (1985, R), Death to Smoochy (2002, R), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004, R), Finding Nemo (2003, G), Over the Hedge (2006, PG), Philadelphia (1993, PG-13), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse Of the Black Pearl (2003, PG-13), Pulp Fiction (1994, R), 3:10 To Yuma (2007, R)

Needless to say, I tend to go more for entertainment value than actual substance.

Rear Window
Gothic
The Company of Wolves
Moby Dick (Gregory Peck version)
Thelma & Louise
Jaws
A Fish Called Wanda
Dracula (Frank Langella version)
The Rose

The Pianist (My all time favourite)

And then in no particular order –

The Shining
Chinatown
As good as it gets
Dogville
The Unforgiven
The French Connection
The Italian Job (original)
Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner

At this point I’d start listing Woody Allen films starting with ‘Bullets over Broadway’ but I don’t want to upset David by listing more than 10.

Pretty good!

"Madame de ..." is one of my favorite movies. If we had done a Top 20, I'd stick that on there somewhere.

Also, I have been to the Grass Valley house of Lola Montez. It's on Mill Street in downtown Grass Valley. It's a museum & worth seeing!

Max's son Marcel created one of the great documentaries of our time -- The Sorrow & the Pity. Romy admires that film, too. Where is Romy?

Umberto D
La vie et rien d'autre
Eat Drink Man Woman
Henry V (Olivier)*
Twentieth Century
Scenes from a Marriage
Tôkyô monogatari
Magnolia
Le gout des Autres
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie

I stop to ten but there are at least other 20 that I love with the same passion.

Romy

*I really tried not to have titles in common with David, but this was unavoidable.

I have that here next to me. Certainly has many strengths & few flaws.

Ok, no particular order. And maybe right now it is not one of my favorites, but each one was a bifg fave in its moment:

The Shining
Moonstruck
Gone with the Wind
Titanic
Grease
Sunset Blvd.
The adventures of Priscilla, queen of the desert.
A room with a view
Jurassic Park
Empire Strikes Back

And if I can add an 11th, it has to be an animated Disney:
Beauty and the Beast

Superb list, Romy. Seeing it makes me feel stupid for not having an Ozu on mine.

Fear not my wrath! I'll let you list eleven for all the great music you gave me.
