I've listened to it a couple of times now, and it flows well. Perhaps too well, the songs kind of all sound the same. I like it, but I think it could have been better. He should have utilized Neko more, especially since she's touring with him. My favorite track is Truth for a Truth.

I just missed their Park West date here in Chicago. Whoops. The Tribune gave the show a good review.

The show is amazing. It's like watching a really beautiful play unfold, because with the band + Neko & Kelly there's just a surreal atmosphere. Jakob isn't necessarily the type of frontman who expresses much through movement, but he's got such a strong voice and there is awesome rapport with the whole group on stage. Honestly, I've been a fan since the FIRST album, the one before "Bringing Down the Horse," and he's grown with every record imo. This one is his best, most distinguished work. It's acquired taste for people who may not be fond of the production- which can tend to drown out the vocals and give the impression a lot of the songs sound the same- but I adore it. I think it has a classic, rustic, Americana feel that I have been gravitating to a lot lately. Probably because my dad played it so much for us when we were children.

Anyway, I really like your opinions and hope you can catch a show at some point, because I think Neko will have to go off with the New Pornographers at some point (I'm guessing, and that's another amazing band right there).

OMG, those in S.F should just get on that right now. The show is amazing and if I didn't live in freaking Ohio and need to be at work every single day this month I would be there. He's one of the artists I travel for.
