Having just listened again to these louder... The sound on these rips isn't very good.... Sounds as if someone was recording these with another device... Also, does one of them sound like there's an audience clapping at the beginning?

I also agree with the sound quality. The songs I already had from the original GOS were much clearer and crisper than those recordings. All in all though I think the album will be okay. Not the Rock album we expected, Not the Billboard top 50. Not Rumours 2 or Tusk 2. It appears to be a mish mash of lindsey old styles mixed with his new styles. For that reason however I am still expecting good things to ome from the album.

Hrm.
I'm not thrilled at the moment, but they are just sound clips. It sounds like all the guitar parts were taken from previous songs. I could sing along to the new songs with older lyrics. Nothing new/innovative at this point to my ears.

On "The Right Place To Fade" he is still definitely saying "wait for the right twist of fate."

Some of these just sound plain badass to me. I don't really want him to sound different. Do we really want him to change his style that much?

Enough to have an album full of songs that don't remind us of 'Second Hand News' or 'Castaway Dreams'

What's your point? These are only 30 second clips like you might find on Amazon or any retailer, and lower quality than that even.

I guess I'm in the minority here... but I really like what I'm hearing. I wasn't really excited at all about another Lindsey album after Under The Skin, but these clips sure fixed that! From the clips so far I like Bel Air Rain the most. This album sounds far more balanced than UTS... pop, rock, slow, fast, experimental, and safe songs are all represented in these clips. Will it be another Out Of The Cradle? Probably not... but it could easily become Lindsey's second best album from what I'm hearing.

See, I never expected it to be a rock album and I didn't think that from what Lindsey said. I just thought it wouldn't be acoustic like UTS. I thought it was going to have more music in it, more bass, lead guitar, less spare drumming. That's what I was thinking when he said it was going to rock more. Michele |

No, I think it sounds amazing too. A great companion piece to UTS. I'm really glad it's not some big "rock" album. Sounds like there's some interesting stuff going on there too. The really poppy first single was a real red herring. |

I believe if an artist wants to release a public sampler, they do. I believe radardman is a twit and so is anyone else who receives private review copy and uploads for public consumption...no matter the length or recording device.

^ Okay, thanks for clarifying. But the fact is, it's done now (and these clips are unlikely to affect sales for the reasons I said) so we may as well discuss them.
I still don't understand the woodwork comment though. |
