There's no way this can be answered.

My favorite song of the moment, however, is Pigs on the Wing Pts. I and II by Pink Floyd. I heard it again after a long hiatus the other day, and that song just reduces me to tears! It's beautiful.

I'm simple, i know i have a lot of favorites, But Edge just popped right into my head. followed closely by Insider. Now, wasn't that easy? good thing i'm less complex than i thought.

I don't think I can pick just one, but any of these would qualify:

Jackson - Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash
Fist City - Loretta Lynn
Love Has No Pride - Bonnie Raitt
Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac
River - Joni Mitchell
Lover Man - Billie Holiday
Let's Stay Together - Tina Turner
Georgia on My Mind - Ray Charles
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry - Hank Williams

Top 3, ever, and it's clear I love angst:
Thirteen- Big Star
Side of the Road- Lucinda Williams
If I Could Write- Sam Phillips

Other angsty songs (at least to me) that don't make it in the top 3:
The Horses- Rickie Lee Jones
So Says I- The Shins
Black Books- Nils Lofgren
Time Will Do The Talking- Patty Griffin

I love everything about these songs and will never, ever get tired of them:
Enjoy the Silence- Depeche Mode
Anything, Anything- Dramarama
Strange Condition- Pete Yorn (I am really ambivalent about everything else he's ever done besides this song. It goes on every mix tape I've made since it came out.)
Smile- Grant Lee Phillips
Always On My Mind- J.C.
Last Goodbye- Jeff Buckley

For a rollicking good time:
Guns of Brixton- The Clash
You Got To Me- Neil Diamond
Twist the Knife- Neko Case
Fujiyama Mama- Wanda Jackson
Tumblin' Dice- Rolling Stones
Clear Spot- Pernice Brothers

That woman waylaid her career more cruelly than any record company could have done. But she still managed to write some great material (I even put one of her songs on my favorites list). She heads up a valuable Web site, too; you can buy PDF files of accurately arranged sheet music (including We Belong Together & dozens of others) for a small fee. The sheet music is delivered electronically within seconds. I ordered a large batch a few months ago & have been enjoying them all -- a lot of this stuff was never published, or published only in typically simplified "songbook" arrangements.

A lot of you have such bad taste, bless your hearts!

I thought, "What's my favorite song?" I can't think of one -- you know, one. Maybe it's I Love You Goodbye but maybe not. So I had to list a few dozen -- sticking only to the rock era -- that have all probably been my favorite at one time or another.

I Love You Goodbye - Thomas Dolby
The World Is a Ghetto - War
Come & Get Your Love - Redbone
Mothership Connection (Star Child) - Parliament
This Is Not America - Bowie & Metheny
My Back Pages - Dylan
Revolution - Beatles
Eleanor Rigby - Beatles
Glory Bound - Pigeonhed
Leave It Open - Kate Bush
Traces of the Western Slopes - Rickie Lee Jones
Ain't No Woman - Four Tops
Jackie Wilson Said - Van Morrison
All Saints Day - Van Morrison
Somebody to Love - Queen
Sax & Violins - Talking Heads
Biko - Peter Gabriel
For the Love of Money - O'Jays
Atlantic City - Springsteen
Young Americans - Bowie
Aladdin Sane - Bowie
The Working Hour - Tears for Fears
So Lonely - Police

And just for good measure:
Bwana

I would say my top 50 or so Fleetwood Mac songs would take up #2-51. Buit there is one non Mac song that claims my #1 all time favorite song it's Green Grass and High Tides by The Outlaws
