Went to the doctor. Guess what he told me GUESS what he told me...
Anyway... ear canals clean... ear drum looks okay. Might be excessive use of the iPod He wasn't sure unless they do an MRI. Then again I only listen to it when I walk to school and walk home (total 1 hr per day)... and I dont listen to it that loud... like you know you can sometimes hear people walking by you with headphones on and still make out the song? Yeah that's not me.

Hah! Brandon doesn't love me anymore : / but I hope you get better soon Brandon. I never could wear headphones or anything like that that close to my ears, the ringing drives me nuts afterwards. I must have sensitive ears I guess.

Yeah, after 40+ years of standing in front of amps, drummer's CRASH CYMBALS (worst culprit!!! Followed closely by a harmonica player playing through either the PA or an amp), monitor speakers, stereo systems, headphones, iPod ear buds, etc...I hear Niagrall Falls 24/7. Hearing a human voice with any kind of constant background din (ambient conversations in a restaurant, Muzak, water running in a sink, A/C fan, whatever) is extremely difficult. My most often uttered words? Either "What?" or "Huh?". Not only annoying to ME, but annoying to the person talking to me, too. And, trying to hear the TV from across the room? Huh, uh...have to turn it up...which causes a bunch of grief for those living with me..."do you HAVE to have the TV so loud?"....yes, yes I do. (which really hampers the late night TV watching experience)
In a similar fashion of Brian Wilson urging us in 1971 to "take good care of your feet"...I'm urging you all to "take care of your hearing". Limit headphone/ear bud use (at any volume...the SPL---sound pressure level--- from those is about 10x's that of hearing out of a speaker across the room, even at half the volume).

I also suffer...
tinnitus, mainly due to other health issues. I can hear fine, as long as there is not much background noise.
The most annoying thing is...I keep hearing the intro tape from Fleetwood Mac concerts (the crickets chirping), damn you FM!!!

Anyway, on a more serious note I hope things are a bit better for you. I haven't had this problem but my dad did for quite some time. Like others have said in this thread, it went away of its own accord after a week but he did have to wear ear protectors at his work (a garage) for a while...]# Anyway, you'd better try to have fun, no matter what you do...

I know a lot of people who SWEAR by "Lipoflavonoid Plus" - not sure if you can get it in NZ, you could probably get a similar response from a high dose of Vitamin C though....
(I enjoyed the Sinead reference- but me, in my oldschoolness, consider it a Prince reference! ha!)
