^^I don't think I could handle meeting and greeting Lindsey!

I think one of my dates might have a meet and greet. Not sure yet. But, I'm still debating about doing it. I've met him a few times and didn't have to pay for the pleasure;-) Plus, chances are I'm doing my dates alone so...I'd feel funny.

I do wonder about these solo-solo dates. I think the guys add a lot to the variety of the performance and I think they also lighten Lindsey up A LOT. I kind of expect one F-U, at least, to someone in the crowd/security/or venue, in general, during the tour. Plus, I do wonder how the audience will react to ... what...an acoustic, slow version of GYOW? I don't see him rocking out to Tusk without a band unless he's practicing his one-man band technique and strapped some cymbals to his knees (that picture just made me smile, for some ODD reason!)

If its those venues where people are eating and chatting during the show and yelling "Where's Stevie" or "Play Freebird," then I can see him get perturbed, as he has in the past, and I think that would happen whether he had his band with him or not.

He shouldn't book those type of places.

I think it's kinda sad to see Lindsey playing his heart out in front of an audience of people gorging out on skirt steak. Has it really come to this? I can think of a gazillion better places- The Knitting Factory, Bowery Ballroom, Williamsburg Music Hall, BAM, etc., where you're not going to have to strain to hear him over the sounds of people slurping and belching.
Almost every venue like this I've been to in NYC, people order and eat before the act even begins to play. I really don't consider this a "has it come to this" situation, BB King's gets a pretty good mix of shows.

I'm mostly hoping the prices are the same as they usually are for BB's. The Town Hall prices last tour were a real downer.

As per BB King's site: http://www.bbkingblues.com/bio.php?id=1622

$60 general admission, $65 day of show. Plus the $10 food/drink rule.

Even though I thoroughly enjoy Songs from the Small Machine DVD, this is the type of show you should record and release. It's something different. Even if he plays all the same songs, he'll have to rework quite a few. But being so close in time from the last one, I doubt he'll do it though.

Totally agree. I don't think I'll get to see any of the solo acoustic tour because when/if he makes it back to the UK it seems that he's promised to do it as a full band. Therefore, he needs to release this tour on DVD!

WOO!!! I'm SO glad he's doing an Ohio date and I won't have to go back to Carnegie! The Southern is a great place too.

Has anyone confirmed that this is going to be a dinner show? AFAIK, most of the "real" shows at BB King's (not cover bands or whatever) aren't dinner shows, and the times for the NYC shows (9PM to 12AM the second night) seem a little late for dinner. And given the comments he's made about audiences not being responsive, I can't imagine he'd be down with a show where people are guaranteed to be sitting down and only half paying attention.

I've been to about a half-dozen shows at BB Kings over the years, and there has always been dinner service (although, as someone rightly pointed out--you don't have to order a full dinner. Just use up the $10 cover charge). And they were artist shows, not cover bands. Granted, I never went to a show that started at 9. Mine always started at 8, but I wouldn't imagine that would make any difference. I would say, though, there is no way that Lindsey's show will run anywhere NEAR midnight. I think BB Kings may only be open till midnight but I would expect 1 1/2 hours to be the maximum amount of time for Lindsey to be on that stage by himself.
The thing is...the doors open like two full hours before the show. So, yes, a lot of people will eat before Lindsey comes on (although, not everyone...as there are always latecomers). And then, there is the waitstaff coming up and taking food and drink orders throughtout the whole thing. And, it's so blasted dark in there that when you get your bill, you can't see it. The last time I went, I literally had to hold it up to a votive candle at the table and still didn't know what I was getting charged. So, there's potential ... "I didn't order a lobster! What are you charging me for?" conversations.
It's not ideal. It's a nice venue (for a cover band or a "good time" band) but the whole experience is a bit tainted by all the movement, etc. in the audience. I would LOVE for them to have made some sort of exception, in LB's case...but, I'm not holding my breath.

And as it has been said, there are so many other, better options for Lindsey to play. I am wondering if because the tour was thrown together last minute, that many other venues just weren't available, and Lindsey had possibly never been to BB Kings and was sold on the idea without knowing exactly what he was getting into. It's just frustrating that after a huge place like Town Hall, he could have done this acoustic show in any number of great NYC or Brooklyn venues, and we get BB Kings.

I suspect that it all boils down to economics. For places like BB King's, I *believe* that much (if not all) of the expense of booking the space is underwritten by food/drink sales. This is probably why you will see national headliners like Lindsey play there one night and have some Pink Floyd tribute band playing there the next night. And it also helps to explain why tickets are only $60 vs. $100+. So whether 5 people or 500 people show up, Lindsey stands to make some coin.
