I don’t think they look wasted in any of the pictures, with the exception of the candid one with Stevie. Just because we know they did drugs, especially back then, doesn’t mean they were always wasted. When you say they don’t even care, I see as a more carefree attitude- for example, the Tusk photos in the album show John swinging Stevie, and they’re having a little fun.
The rooftop photo. I prefer the Rolling Stone one where Chris and Lindsey have reversed positions. I did not say they looked wasted in THESE photos. I said I did not like the Tusk ones because of how wasted they were. However 1982 was probably the druggiest they all were. Post Mirage Chris and Lindsey got clean. Stevie went to the abyss. John was stoned drunk on the Hold Me set. Their MTV promo in 1982 Lindsey hiding his eyes behind sunglasses and Chris not taking any of it serious. Their US Festival performance was so impacted by their heavy use of controlled substances. Stevie could not even show up with the band to be interviewed by Rolling Stone. My point was because the early 80s preppy scene hit, they were cleaned up (i.e. visually, not the drug reference). They looked better wasted in the glam 80s compared to the hippy 70s.
