![]() No point in watching now that Allison's gone, IMO. Both Danny & Kris sucked this week & I thought Kris would go for sure. I thought Allison was quite good Tues, but even better Wed. night. Her duet w/Adam was fantastic, miles better than the other 2 twats.
Whatever. As usual, the rock chick doesn't get into the finals. I'm sure the judges would have picked a Stevie or a Heart or an Airplane tune for her to do next week too. ![]() BTW - Paula's "performance?" Are they kidding? Great, she can still dance - good for her. ![]() ![]() |

![]() American Idol - Season 8
Top 3 (Judge's Pick/Contestant's Choice) Last night revealed that the Emperor has no clothes. But in our culture, who will call him out? The Good Kris Allen -- "Heartless" -- Owing a debt to Mia Carruthers' Taking The Stage acoustic stairwell version of the Kanye hit, Kris Allen towered above the competition and solidified his placing as the Top 13's single best competitor -- against all odds. Kris Allen -- "Apologize" -- Criticized for not changing the arrangement, his faithfulness to the One Republic album version instead highlighted the power of his PHRASING (while showing off some piano skills for variety's sake next to his acoustic guitar reimagining on "Heartless"). The Bad Adam Lambert -- "One" -- Adam's gay experience -- highlighted by his father's knowing/loving joke about the lack of appeal sports had for a young Adam -- just doesn't relate to U2's overbaked story of a gay son rejected by his father. Consequently, he highlights the song's protest by transforming it into a cabaret/broadway tune. That's right, when Randy chastized Adam for dropping the song's melody, he really meant he was disappointed by his "theatrical" rendition. Rumour has it that Simon's alternative pick for Adam would have been Chris Isaak's glorious "Wicked Game." Adam Lambert -- "Crying" -- It would be funny if Adam chose this Aerosmith song to show up Danny's attempt last week at a Steven Tyler scream. Too bad: Adam was nearly as unlistenable -- but not nearly as fun. So everyone bows. But: Unlike Gokey's "Scream On," this won't go viral. The Gokey Danny Gokey -- "You Are So Beautiful" -- Surprisingly, this stands as Gokey's best performance. It resides in his range, it was not flat, it showed off some overdone delicacy (heightened by his "church" rendition of the song). Danny Gokey -- "Dance Little Sister" -- Paula knows Gokey's growl could fit into Terence Trent D'Arby. Why not "Wishing Well"? I suspect that the chosen song's theme of dealing with grief through the experience of common catharsis appealed to Paula's idea of Gokey as the Grieving Widower. Too bad Danny didn't interpret the song in that way. Still, props to him. I thought it was his second best performance of the season. . . up against Adam's worst.

![]() Gokey was awful. Nothing else to say.
I HATED Adam's version of "One." HATED. One of the greatest songs ever, IMO. Butchered. And "Cryin?" Really? How about a classic, like "Dream On" or something? I thought it was 1992 for a minute there. *shudder* Kris did well on "Apologize." They would have torn him a new one if he didn't do the falsetto part, since that's the song's main hook. So it's BS that they bitched about how he didn't "make it his own." It wasn't a carbon copy, it wasn't a karoke imitation, so I thought it was good. I loved his version of Heartless. Really, really great. ![]() I stil don't give a **** who wins this season, but I supoose I'm rooting for Kris now even though he's kind of boring. ![]() |

![]() But do you know the name of the song that they featured him singing on the show tonight when he went to his home town when he was on stage at his home town singing, with his guitar hanging from his back... I have heard that song several times, but I can't think of who sings it... Donnie Wayne ~ |
