These first four are basically in order...

1. The Silence of the Lambs
2. Donnie Darko
3. Superbad
4. Stand By Me

And these fill out the rest of my favorites...

5. National Lampoon's Vacation
6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
7. Clueless
8. Lord of the Rings Trilogy
9. Requiem for a Dream
10. The Phantom of the Opera

I have a feeling that the art/film people on here are vomiting at my list, but hey, I like what I like!

Brad

Wise words, I agree, but I also think that one likes a movie according the moment and the age. That's why I included Grease or Titanic. MAybe today I have other favorites, but I tried to list the movies that I wanted to see lot of times at that moment, plus the movies I will always love, like Priscilla or Moonstruck.

But you had Renoir and Tarkovsky and Griffith. A pretty powerful trio among the others.

We were just talking about that movie the other day! It was a big hit, & had great marketing graphics. But the tidal wave was bad science, Dan.

What's wrong with Ghostbusters? It has a great, wisecracking script, perfect casting and lively pace. It's an 80s classic.
Wow. How snobby.
