Money is the root of happiness.

I'll tell you what the best feeling in the world is: To be unhappy in one job, to find yourself another job with a better compensation package & better work conditions while still employed at the first job, & then to GIVE NOTICE to the mofos -- professionally & tastefully. Your final two weeks at the crappy job will be two of the best weeks of your life: you'll be high as a kite, you'll sleep like a baby, & you'll be as giddy as a giddyap.

"Because of Stevie"

Yeah Stevie forced me to quit my last job too. Bad times. But she did release a great album so I can forgive her I guess

Professionally??? Tastefully???

No. The best feeling in the world is the feeling of freedom as you walk out the door after throwing the keys to the office/company vehicle at your ahole of a boss who has pushed your buttons one too many times. There's nothing like seeing his expression turn to shock and dismay, as he frantically chases you and pleads with you to come back. There are no laughs quite as satisfying as the laughing you do when your coworkers call and tell you how he is busting his butt trying to do your job, how it will take him months and months to replace you because of company policy and how it appears to be putting him into an early grave!

But this can only be done if you have a job lined up that is as good or better. I hope you do... Where do you live? I am working weekends, but I am still going to be able to see Stevie and Lindsey on their tour many many times, without missing a day of work. Would this have been an option for you?

Actually David is correct. Ten years is a long time to be at a company (no matter what it is) and any new GOOD, decent paying, good benefit position's prospective employer will want to see your resume and references. You have to HOPE your boss doesn't say, "He quit because he didn't get off all the dates to see Stevie Nicks." What they write is different from what they say. In theory, they should only be saying you worked there from this date to that date. But the reality is sometimes different. It's usually better to not burn your bridges in your career choices.

I agree. For some reason I do have a gut feeling they will be singing a different tune by the end of this upcoming week.It I like the tune they will be singing to be to keep me on board.Maybe I may reconcider to stay. The second man in charge at the warehouse is my best friend that comes to the local Stevie/FM concerts when Stevie/FM comes to Connecticut. So he is not happy with the man in charge with the final decision.I'll see.

It was more issues then Stevie's upcoming tour. This was the issue that broke the camals back.as they say.I did came up with agreement of those days off the shows but not a full week with them. All I just wanted that friday after the PNC show in Holmdel for getting back to home safely.if I did agree with him .I would be useless
that friday to him and it would be a major on the job safety issue in the meantime.
Oh yes .a great new album .I hope she will do the Wiltern setlist.

I've had jobs that blocked out certain times for vacation. It's unfortunate that the Stevie shows you wanted to attend fell during that time. It sounds as though you don't really believe your job is actually gone; rather you are thinking that this move will open their eyes to your worth, etc. I hope it was a good decision for you, though I have to say I think it's a terribly risky move in this economical climate. I am working with some folks who have been unemployed for YEARS and would give just about anything for a paycheck. I see people really depressed due to their unemployment. Good luck to you.

I dare anybody to try to make me feel bad about any of the jobs I've quit, or the way I quit them.

you haven't advertised your quitting & reasons for doing so on a public message board so ... people probably won't.

Exactly. Sounds like an oppressive work environment. Was it like that in other ways, Macfanforever?

My parents are both very good people with a good work ethic. I swear this screws them a lot of times. My mom really didn't get her due in terms of salary/leveling until she was out with breast cancer and nobody could do her job in her absence. How soon they forget though because the company is up to its old tactics. In her latest review her boss said, "I can't give you an 'excellent' rating because we can only give that to 20% of employees." So now they have an affirmative action policy on performance. #awesome.

What David said is true and the ideal way to go out is to have another better job lined up. I would see if you can keep this job until that happens.

I read an article not long ago that compared U.S. workers' yearly allotment of vacation time w/ those of other countries. Basically, we're one of the only industrialized nations where employers are not required by law to offer vacation time. Most countries in Europe mandate anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks a year.
