Yes! LOL. I have found that when I travel up north and ask for tea, it is always without sugar. Whereas when you ask for tea in a southern resturant it comes with sugar (unless you tell them otherwise).

Well the tea bags you buy for sweat tea are different than tea bags you would buy for hot tea.

Right - but like Lipton has tea you can make hot or cold

I think I'm getting a clear picture now.....I wouln't like my tea to come to me sweetened...I need to sweeten it to my own taste and liking

I do. And coffee, if I have it. It's from back in the day when I wasn't eating refined sugar or dairy. Sometimes I would put honey, but quickly got used to having my beverages w/out sugar. But then, I don't drink ice tea often, usually warm tea, which tends to be more naturally flavorful. And I don't drink warm coffee often, usually iced.

I boil water with 8 Lipton tea bags in it. While that is boiling, I put sugar and ice cubes in a pitcher. I pour the hot tea in....and just fill the rest of the pitcher up with hot water....I taste it....if it needs more sugar, I put more in. Sometimes I add lemon.

And that's? sweet tea? It's just regular tea to me lol....I mean that's just how one makes tea no?

Well - except I don't automatically add sugar to the whole pitcher lol...I leave that up to whoever's drinking a glass...

That's basically it. Iced tea is just that- regular Orange Pekoe tea that is chilled. Here in LA, if you order tea that's what you get- just plain tea. At drive through joints they'll ask you "Do you want lemon with your iced tea?"

In the South, if you order "iced tea" you automatically get this nasty swill that been loaded with some kind of sweetener- usually regular sugar, but I have had it with stuff that's gotta be something else. I dunno, maybe Karo syrup (corn syrup) or something....

I like iced tea to be just iced tea- tea with ice. No lemon, no sugar, no honey, no Karo, no raspberry flavor- just plain tea.

We call it sweet tea here. Regular tea is no sweetner.

Tea is confusing.

Yeah, it's totally different over here.

Americans (from what I gather, I'm not a tea or coffee drinker myself) don't usually put anything but lemon and/or sweeteners in their tea. Creamer or milk is typically reserved for coffee.

mmm..my sister brought some English tea home from her trip to London a few years ago...SOOOO good.

She made it and then put milk in it and insisted we drink it the way she was taught to drink it in England...and damned if it wasn't the best damn tea I EVER had

I always put milk in my hot tea. I do get some strange looks, though.

Exclamation I love tea...

either straight (No sugar or ice) or sweetened (No ice), That's the way I have drank it all of my life and will until someone decides it's time for me to go terrorize those in the afterlife
