During the Dance tour, he'd go over to her side of the stage for Stand Back and stand by the piano and then John would cross over to Lindsey's side during that song.

Now, for Tusk Lindsey''d go over to her side of the stage and he'd interact with John and Christine in the old days and he'd do the Tusk dance with Stevie on that side, for the SYW tour. Tusk is coming earlier in the setlist this time around, so maybe he stepped up the right side invasion.

And he may not have been on her side of the stage...I just know that John was talking to Stevie and made that motion while Lindsey was basking in his glory. Lindsey may have still been on his side of the stage.

It means a lot because, unfortunately, there are many artists who have been around as long as FM or longer, who have had a great deal of longevity, and just do not care- not enough to play like John or Mick, to give their all like Lindsey, or spice up their stage image like Stevie. It's impressive all the way and that's why they still rock.
I agree! I mean my expectations for this concert were extremely high and it was all I had dreamed it to be and more! They were so great! I'm glad your show was awesome too

It was probably 8:10 when I heard started hearing the crickets and my excitement level increased at least a thousand fold. The next few minutes, waiting for the band to take the stage seemed like an eternity and then finally Mick and John both came onstage another couple of minutes (maybe just seconds) and Stevie and Lindsey came out hand in hand to thunderous applause.

[For the next two and half hours I felt as if I was watching a tennis match, my head moved from Stevie to Lindsey so much. Even though I was in the center section, it was hard to decide on who to watch. I did end up watching Stevie more than Lindsey though. Don’t get me wrong – I am a huge Lindsey fan – I honestly am more than captivated and blown away by him, just like everyone else. But, I do love Stevie’s dramatic flair - the calculated movements and gestures. I also hoped to get a good take on her after all the negative reviews she had received.]

Lindsey escorted Stevie to her mic and gave her hand a sweet kiss and squeeze as he went to strap on the Rick Turner and make his way to his mic. He counted off and charged into “Monday Morning” with – yes – “unleashed” abandon. I knew immediately that any preconceived notions, thoughts or ideas had just been shattered.

Lindsey flung his arm out toward Stevie, singing “Monday Morning you sure look fine” straight to her as she flashed him a grin and a quick shake of the head in recognition of his playfulness or perhaps a shared memory from the birth of the line, I thought. The rambunctiousness of the song had the audience moving from the beginning; and Stevie was smiling, happy, and beating her tambourine for all it was worth (which I’m sure was much more than the $40 ones they were selling in the lobby). I especially enjoyed the lower notes that Stevie went for throughout the evening – on this song – she sang “do” low in the line “no one else that could ever do”, a nice touch.

“The Chain” – I was especially pleased to hear this song live as it seems to be a “theme song” of sorts. My favorite part of this song are the harmony parts and the little nuances – the answer lines, the backup singers – and Stevie doing the “aaahhs” as in “Mirage” only softer. Of course, John’s solo is awesome and Stevie stepping aside so he gets the spotlight is only appropriate. I love Stevie and Lindsey looking at each other on this song too – not as intense as “Mirage”, but still a nice dramatic touch.

Stevie said “Atlanta, GEORGIA” (with a pretty nice Southern accent, I might add) as she welcomed us and said the only thing to do was to “get this party” seductively “started”… ahem. Obviously, she thinks “Dreams” is the best way to start a party since it was their only number one record. I have to say this was a really great version. On the first heartbeat line Stevie hit her fist in her palm double-time but on the second one she went with a single beat. Lindsey mouthed some of the words as she sang.

“I Know I’m Not Wrong” was a great up-tempo song, although I don’t think this was as well known to the crowd except for the die-hards. It’s great to have another “Tusk” song in the set though and I especially like Stevie’s harmonies on this song. She seemed to enjoy singing it and Lindsey’s guitar work really started coming alive here, as was evident with his extended basking in adulation at the edge of the stage at the end of the song. In fact, John seemed to be pretty miffed about the grandstanding - he and Stevie were looking at each other and John made a motion with his hand towards her, irritated, like - 'WTH'? Stevie sort of just shrugged.

“Gypsy” - After chatting with John and taking a drink from her solo cup sitting on the drum riser, Stevie made her way to the mic to tell us a little story. It was 1965 and she and her family had finally moved to San Francisco (apparently the ultimate destination) and she met Lindsey Buckingham in one day when she was a senior and he was a junior they sang a little song (I started to yell out ‘California Dreaming’ but I didn’t want her to get all verklempt and lose her place). So, a couple of years later Lindsey and his band called her and “almost sight unseen” gave her a spot in the band. And, this was when, in her opinion, the greatest musical scene of all time was happening – right there in San Francisco with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and it’s beginning to sound a bit “Camelot-ish” to me but I guess if you were there… Lindsey patiently holds his guitar while it gently weeps during this tale…haha…So, they opened for all these huge names and so “back to the Velvet Underground” which is San Francisco and back to the floor, she points at Lindsey and herself and says, “to our bed” and to the room with lace and paper flowers…”back to the Gypsy that WE were.” Lindsey mouthed along on “she was just a wish, she was just a wish” with a somewhat melancholy expression. Stevie sang “and her memories are all that is left of her now”. Nice ending guitar work, but I hate that Stevie has to yell over it to sing “I still see your bright eyes”. I wish they would go back to how they were doing it before the break with both of them singing it together. It was a nice change-up. Stevie did a few turns and then left to change.

“Go Insane” received a speech intro from Lindsey and he used a pick on an acoustic guitar. I enjoyed the ink blots video and the feedback from the amps made my ears ring. I’m sure it was supposed to. I did feel sort of “insane-ish” by the combination.

I noticed Lindsey began “Rhiannon” before Stevie was back onstage. She scurried to the mic a little. Here she upped her game – moving and gesturing with more animation.

“Second Hand News” – happy, bouncy song. Stevie seemed to get a little giggly at one point on this song.

“Tusk” – slowed down, this works better than I would think. I enjoy watching Stevie wait in the shadows. For some reason, I think it looks cool. She was really banging the tambo on this song too. Was it this song she did a little kick at the end? She was in front of the drum kit with her back to the audience.

“Sara” – it was especially wonderful to hear the extended version of this song. When Stevie walked over to Lindsey’s mic, I admit, I held my breath. It’s routine, sure by this point, but it still makes the crowd swoon and it’s a lovely gesture. I couldn’t help but laugh a little though when Stevie left Lindsey’s side and reached for Sharon’s hand as she walked by the backup girls.

“Big Love” - Lindsey said something about this song back in the day being about “alienation” and now it was about “reconciliation” or something like that. He’s awesome! I was mesmerized by his playing, as usual.

“Landslide” – Stevie motioned to Lindsey to wait as soon as she came out for this song. She then proceeded to dedicate the song to “Betty Witherspoon, Reese’s mom, who is just as beautiful.” On the first “children get older, I’m getting older too” Lindsey was smiling with his eyes closed before he went back to his no expression face. At the “snow covered hills line” Stevie put her left hand over her eyes to look at Lindsey, which he mocked and they smiled and laughed as she finished , putting some nice spins on her ending vocals and he blew her a kiss.

“Never Going Back Again” – I really love the new take on this song. Lindsey’s drawing out of the words, the holding back, and Stevie’s harmony was awesome. I enjoyed watching the double drama of this song as Lindsey stopped playing, singing “you don’t know what it means to win…” and Stevie stood in the dark, like a statue, with her head just hanging down. Honestly, people around me were whispering, “is she ok?”, “look at her”…but it was all real hushed and then she slowly moved back to sing the harmony lines and the effect was perfection. Bravo to the two drama queens on this!

“Storms” – I really laughed a little when Stevie introduced this song as a “stormy song for a stormy bunch of people with stormy relationships”. It was the funny little smile she had on her face and I’m pretty sure she was looking at Lindsey when she said that. Anyway, it was a great treat to hear it live and their ending together was haunting….and they know it. I love them!

“Say You Love Me” – I believe this is when it started to feel more like a “Fleetwood Mac” show to me and probably because Mick came down front. During the middle of the song, when LB is playing, Stevie went to play her tambo in front of Mick and she playfully pointed her finger out to barely tap a cymbal. He smiled at her and she was smiling the whole time. Cute motioning between SnL on this on the end verse they sing to each other: “I’m getting weaker everyday…” and “…if you use me again it’ll be the end of me”. Stevie and Lindsey use their hand signals to direct their singing on the end of this and they think it’s funny.

“Gold Dust Woman” – Rocked my socks off. Nice moves by Stevie on this, playing with the ribbons on her mic stand, some hip movements that got a smirk out of Lindsey and maybe even a little friendly competition as he sort of “pushed” back with a guitar riff. Stevie gave excellent drawn out wails and the new “dragon” extending at the end. Stevie really was doing some funky great head rolls at the end and as the one reviewer said, “proved at 60 she still knows how to work a shawl.” I think Lindsey is doing some different riffs on this song that really make this “goldie” oldie sound fresh, as are Stevie’s new vocals.

“Oh Well”– awesome to hear this live! Lindsey plays it up and Mick looks to really enjoy it. Lindsey shared his bow with Mick and John on this and the guys are all smiles.

"I'm So Afraid" – Lindsey’s biggest shining moment. Long extended and well-deserved ovation. Stevie’s harmonies still add to it for me, but just enough and does not take away at all from this being “his” song.

“Stand Back” – the perfect song to follow ISA. Stevie came out pumped and ready for this one! She was moving, throwing her head and flinging her arms around, really getting into it! Changed up some words, not sure what she said. Lindsey mouthed the words on the chorus and on a lot of the verses. He must like this song and he definitely wanted everyone to know that he needs a little sympathy. LOL. The crowd really got into it too. Also, Stevie did some major twirlage on this song – she spun almost all the way over to Lindsey’s side and had a mischievous sort of grin on her face. [Side note: the man in front of me traded places with the lady he was with – they were in their late ‘50’s-early ‘60’s. I would swear that Stevie noticed her and even knew her. She seemed to be sort of performing a little extra for this lady, but that was just my observation from my vantage point. Otherwise, it was for me! LOL.]

“Go Your Own Way” – one of the priceless moments of the night, among so many, but this ranks at the top. The entire arena was on their feet dancing, screaming “you can go your own way!” The entire band got into this one too. Stevie was really smiling at the beginning and to see her with her top hat on just reliving some of their glory days was a nostalgia lovers dream. Love the little added extra “yeahs” and “go your own way” she threw into it. Mick’s drum thing towards the end, Lindsey’s new riffs again totally refresh this song. It’s not that it needs refreshing because it’s a great song but for the players, I’m sure it helps. Here’s where I also noticed that Stevie strikes a pose with ease. It was funny watching her shake her tambourine in front of the drum kit waiting for Lindsey to get done strumming around on the guitar. Also, it’s worth mentioning here that when Lindsey is at the stage hamming it up with the people and letting them play the guitar, Stevie takes some glances in his direction watching. It seemed to me she was enjoying the interaction he was getting with the audience too. She hides a grin sometimes at his antics.

“World Turning” – Lindsey’s canned vocals on this are uber cool. I wish they would do a new recorded version like this. Also, Mick really was fun to watch – and I was surprised. I thought I would be annoyed but I wasn’t at all!

“Don't Stop” – This may have been the song that Brett and Neale got into as Brett was playing guitar and ran to stand back to back with Neale. It was neat to see the backup band having fun too. Lindsey turned to Stevie to sing one of the lines in this song, but it looked to me like she turned to sing it to Lori! Haha

“Silver Springs” – Stevie and Lindsey came back out for this last encore, again holding hands. They stood almost center stage as everyone cheered and Lindsey kissed her hand again, and then her head twice and they said something to each other. Stevie gathered herself together for one more performance. She almost blew her voice out on the last “never get away!”. She was careful and deliberate with the final line. I’m so glad that they had a day off so she could rest her voice.

After Lindsey said his good night, Stevie went to the mic and said something about “Hot ‘Lanta!” and how great we were or whatever. Mick said his thing and then they left.

**Overall, this concert was absolutely, hands-down a thrill to attend. I want to point out, that all of the videos from this night posted on youtube, DO NOT do this show justice as to what it looked like and how it felt actually being there. I was skewed by my perception of watching the videos prior to this show. Unless you’ve seen them a million times, don’t be kept away because you’re not impressed with the videos or you think that Stevie is not “all that”. I went to this show thinking they were ready for the retirement home (besides Lindsey) and I left thinking they’re doing great!!

Also, from my point of view, even though I love all the SnL interaction stuff, I wasn’t disappointed by the “lack of interaction”. They don’t ignore each other and they seemed very genuine. It was a good vibe.

Stevie smiling and laughing and having a good time makes for a happy show. I hope things stay good for her so she can keep having fun. I actually think it gives her momentum with Lindsey and the little competition thing they’ve got going is great for the show. I also think Lindsey enjoys it.

It has been reported by others and the reviews have all contributed to the fact that Lindsey is the glue of the show. Someone even commented, “is this the Lindsey Buckingham show?” I’m not sure that I agree he’s been “under appreciated” or whatever all these years, but I will say the man is like a fine wine – only gets better. It is simply mind-boggling to watch him play the guitar.

I hope everyone will be able to catch this show!! I don’t think this will be my last Mac show. I’m hooked!

Loved your song by song review and the hilarious asides. I think Lindsey waiting while his guitar gently weeps was my favorite.

With all the press it has been getting in the BBC, as it is used for the racing, I bet it is even more iconic over there. Reminds me of how Tusk is so famous as being USC's song here in southern California.

Oh, I'd like to hear it uttered that way. I always love the way she pauses in her solo concerts when she does the Sorcerer, "let me put you on . . . ice" part. Shades of Mae West.

You'd think that little intro would be more appropriate to kick off a fast song.

Given your user name, I'm not surprised you had this urge.

They used to orchestrate the end of Say You Will this way during the last tour. Cute.

Love the little head kisses. We are lucky that Silver Springs stayed in the setlist this long, given the vocal strain. I imagine it's even harder coming at the end of a 2 hour show, but it's a very effective closer.

Unless someone described somethng specific I wanted to see (like Stevie doing a reverse and putting her head on Lindsey's shoulder for Sara), I never watched any of the videos from the tour, because I didn't want to get burned out. But even if I had, you're right that it doesn't capture the experience of being there. You can know every single thing that's coming, but still feel overwhelmed when it's actually unfolding, a few feet away from you, so close that you can see their eyes glisten and absorb the energy they've generated throughout the venue. Even if you've heard and seen it all before, you really haven't.

Thanks for all the details. Michele

I’m hooked!
I agreed 100% with everything you said about every song and about how the YouTube videos don't do the show justice! You took the words right out of my mouth on pretty much everything haha

And to Nico, thanks! My phone is being slow tonight so I'll just respond here

Tuesday night was unforgetable. I had read some of the reviews before the concert and they were all wrong.

It was me and my mom (she had been waiting 32 years for the chance to see Fleetwood Mac live). We were both extremely excited. When we got to Phillips Arena, we were interviewed by the dude from 97.1 The River! He asked me who my three favorite artists were (FM, Stevie solo, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers).

We got our shirts and went to get our seats. When the cricket sounds started playing, I got really excited. The next couple of hours were awesome, with so many great moments. The highlights for me were Sara, Gold Dust Woman (you could feel the emotion Stevie was putting into it), Go Your Own Way (I temporarily lost hearing in my ears from the applause lol), Say You Love Me, Tusk (the new intro is awesome), and of course, Silver Springs.

After the concert, I thought to myself, "People actually think they can't do it anymore?!" Tuesday proved two things for me, one being that they definitely can still do it. The other being rock 'n roll is still alive and well.

Default Dallas was extraordinary

I was a beside my self in anticipation of seeing them in Dallas on Thursday night. My wife thought we were going nowhere. and then surprise. There we were in the fifth row on the floor.

Thank you Allan.

This was the greatest night of my life, seeing lifelong friends again who have been with me through all that life has had to offer. Sharon and I celebrated. Our love affair and theirs.

Stevie was magnificent, magical. Lindsey was driving, emotional. Taking it to the edge and beyond - a true magician giving it his everything. John was keeping it true and getting carried away with it at times, and what can you say about Mick- 'are you with me now'?

I felt a strange urge to turn around...and then I saw this whole of humanity celebrating as one, on its feet in unbridled energetic happiness, all of us carried away to heaven and bliss. Even now as I listen to them here with me, I can see them in my heart, on my eyes......

Don't ever leave me.....

CADreaming, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your review! I haven't read such a descriptive review in the longest time...probably since SYW. It made me feel like I was really there! Sounds like it was an awesome show. I hope more videos pop up on youtube! Thanks again!

Wow~I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Gypsy speech at your Atlanta show...."our bed"....that's a Shipper's Paradise for sure!

...I really don't understand why we Shippers of FM world get so giggly when hearing stuff like that....but I have, ever since the age of 18, been so viscerally effected when hearing Lindsey/Stevie/Lovey Dovey Stuff. I can't get enough of those two...and I have no idea why...
