Christine has really valued collaboration since her 1984 solo album. She's a team player. And there's no doubt she really wanted Lindsey to work WITH her on songs. But why, oh why, does he have to be such an a** sometimes? "That's something you always wanted me to do FOR you..." I'm sure he didn't mean it as an insult, but the guy really doesn't have a sense of tact.

The comment about Stevie's needs being more complicated is certainly a dig. A public criticism of her. Implied in it, too, is his sense that she needs him but won't admit it. She, in turn, is pretty much publicly showing the world she doesn't need HIM and can turn to her other soulmate. It's all so pathetic, really. These two and their ongoing conflicts.

What I wish the article gave us is a teaser of the actual two tunes mentioned! Just a teaser--30 seconds each!!
i agree with everything in this post (especially about the teaser! but if they released the teaser now it really wouldn't make sense to wait for another WHOLE YEAR to release all that new music), except the part that i bolded.

i don't think LB thinks SN needs HIM, specifically, anymore. but he would love to work with her, and forget about the baggage. last year he suggested they do exactly what he and Christine described they did on that one song where he had music but no lyrics.

but yes, i think you pinpointed the exact reason why SHE (SN) doesn't want to work with LB anymore - because she's trying to make sure nobody interprets their possible collaborations as she not being able to work without him. all the bitc*ing of SN fans how LB has ruined every song of hers that he touched since Mirage is all going in that same direction too "she doesn't need him, people!".

Trust me, I've had them since 1987.

All the conjecture and speculation about the dynamics between Stevie and the rest of the band is really funny to me.

This is how they've always recorded albums together.
I don't see anything different happening this time around, other than a very active/productive Stevie Nicks.
The band does their thing and Stevie is present only when she needs to be.
She has never hung around while all the other parts are worked on.
No need for concern or fake drama -- this is how FM works.

I'm really happy/excited about all of this after reading the article in the LA Times this morning. The fact that Lindsey and Christine are working together without Stevie is great news. Good things always come out of Buckingham/McVie collaborations.

Yes, to me too. But then again: they recorded 8 songs in 2012. Minus the three LB songs from the EP, we would have 5 left. Minus the remixes and the two CM collabs, this list leaves one too many....

A. Of course they are gonna say the album will be released after the tour because they had just started recording and didn't know how long it would take. Why would they give a date that's sooner with all of the unknowns? Were they really going to say before starting...oh yeah, we are going to release this album we have barely started on within like five or six months.

B. Maybe it's going quicker than they thought. I'm an optimist and think it's possible they may have it ready by the fall. Or not....but it's possible, and the information we're getting is hopeful.

C. Would they prefer to release the album prior or during the first part of the tour? Of course, that's a no brainer!

By the way...Family Part and I'm a Jazz Man are definitely from Tango's Family Man....duh

It's not that the dynamics are new or shocking in themselves. You are absolutely right that this is the way they have always proceeded.

But what is so pathetic is that they are all well over 60, 35 years have passed since their breakups, and yet Lindsey and Stevie in particular cannot change their damn tune! They still take passive aggressive hits on each other through the press, a practice that started in 1978...

You'd think after all this time, they might enjoy each other's company and the gift their collective energy brings with it. Instead, it's business as usual.

Am I alone on not wanting danceable Christine? I want moody or bluesy Christine like an oh daddy or you make loving fun. Or heart of stone even.

Unless of course this new danceable song takes the place of stand back in the set. Then I'm all for it!

If it wasn't cause for concern within the band, it wouldn't be cause for concern for me. But they clearly are having problems with each other.

Before SYW Stevie was telling everyone how she'd given Lindsey her demos. Everyone knew that the band was working without her and she would join her after the TISL work was finished, so fans had nothing to wonder about at all. But this time around the band seems doubtful and as a fan, since they don't know what the future holds, I worry about getting anything other than the tour dates this year that are already carved in stone.

It's a sea of uncertainty, not because Stevie isn't there, but because Stevie isn't there and the band seems worried. Believe me if he wasn't doubtful, Mick's booksigning comments would have been a lot more definite.

What I also wonder is who is FM's publicist now? Remember earlier this year when Liz confirmed Christine's return and the tour plans? That indicated that either she was FM's publicist too or FM didn't have its own.

So, does FM have its own publicist now?

The baggage they proclaimed was gone in 1997, 2003, etc? LOL. He was saying this back in the SYW era as well - talking about working from the ground up with her. Amounts to pretty much the same thing.

And yet in 2011 she went on and on and on about how no one could possibly have helped on Soldier's Angel except for him, about how wonderful a job he did, blah blah blah. She's talked plenty about how he's helped her out and improved her songs. And I really see very few Stevie fans who think Lindsey has ruined EVERY song of her since Mirage. Slight exaggeration there. Yes, some people think he cocked up on certain songs on SYW in particular but while some may think he hasn't brought anything TO them, I doubt many think he's made ALL of them worse. Certain Stevie fans seem to have an automatic dislike of anyone 'proving' she's not able to do everything herself, tbh. She may want people to know how successful and great she is on her own, but she also has no hesitation in talking about that Buckingham Nicks entity as extremely important and something she's proud of. SHE'S the one who made that off the cuff comment about running off to Wales to make BNII together, for goodness' sake.

She just wants him to be happy. It's better for him and better for her. "Hopefully this record will give him back a sense of purpose and delight. He's in a way better space now and it's wonderful for me to see that. I care about him and his life and what he does and if he's happy. I so want him to be okay. This record is his baby and I really think he's gone and done that great thing he always wanted to do." (2003)

you must have not looked through the most recent threads in this and SN forum.

either there are many of them, or there really are very few but really loud ones.

except now the rest of the band (or at least Mick and Christine, we haven't heard from John) are joining in with Lindsey in that. so that may mean something (and no, i don't think Mick is just a money whore explanation would fly... one certainly can't say the same about Christine).

BTW, your post count must be rocketing up with all this 'fun' stuff to talk about and say. I'm impressed with your stamina, shall we say.
