Me too. I think it’s Stevie because she did it back then (as the studio version)but it’s very hard to tell.

I like it so much better when it's BuckVie. But I truly can't tell here.

Folks over an another music forum were saying that this show is a relatively tame show compared to others on the Rumours tour. I've always found a lot of the Rumours shows we have on tape to have similar energy. For me, the Tusk tour has always been easier to evaluate and notice the great nights vs average nights.

Sonically, this thing sounds very good. The lower end is solid, there’s good clarity, extraneous crowd and electronic noise are mostly under control (the exception seems to be “You Make Loving Fun,” which was the worst-sounding cut on the Live Deluxe last year — there’s something about that arrangement that comes across messily).
A lot of these performances are good, tight Mac with energy, and everyone seems to be in fine voice with leads and harmonies. It may or may not be your favorite Rumours performance — probably not — but I think a few of the tracks stand out for that tour: “Say You Love Me,” “Over My Head,” “World Turning,” “Blue Letter.” What’s so powerful about the set is that it’s a single set and it hangs together like a set. It’s what’s been missing from all the previous groupings of live recordings from different cities. When you listen to this from front to back (or back to front, as Stevie idiotically says), you hear that sensation of coherence in a single night. To me, this is important as a live Mac set because it’s probably the first time we’ve ever heard a professional release in its entirety from a single place and time, except for some radio broadcasts like the Trod Nossel studio concert from 1975 or some pre-1975 stuff. Even the Tusk and Mirage shows released on video were all scrambled and shortened. I really do hope Rhino compiles several more of these things. I wish they could get their hands on a Wild Heart concert — don’t even ask Stevie, just do it — or a Street Angel concert.

I'm curious about the Hollywood Bowl tapes. Not a single track has been released via any of the recent reissues/deluxe sets. Either they have been lost, are viewed as being sub-par, or they have them earmarked for a future release and don't want to jump the gun releasing anything.

Yes, this is the same GDW that was on third disc of the deluxe live release from 2021.

It's such a treat to see/hear all of these pristine recordings be released. For decades soundboard tapes were like folklore to fans. Some recordings were leaked over time, but they were often plagued by tape hiss and just not the greatest quality.

I want a shelf full of these things — well, a decent series of perhaps ten superb shows. I just have no idea what was actually professionally recorded because Ken Caillat and others have contradicted themselves over the years. Wouldn’t it be nice if A REPRESENTATIVE FROM RHINO actually asked us here (or on their website) which particular shows might garner the most interest?
Not to mention a handful of Nicks solo concerts.

Re-released tracks???

The DeLuxe Monday Morning lacks the instrumental intro, and the guitar solo is totally different; it's more a Christine electric piano solo. The new version has a real guitar solo; I think it is another version than the previously released one. GJK Last edited by GJK; 09-15-2023 at 12:30 PM.. |
