November 2011 Julian Lennon on Personal and Professional Life With plenty of creative strings to his bow, Julian Lennon is keen to impress that, despite being the only child of Beatle John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia, he’s “more than a one-dimensional, son-of-John character”. The 8-year-old musician had a difficult relationship with his father, which included periods of estrangement before John was killed when Julian was 17. But as he points out: “There’s a lot more to my life and work than just Dad. ” Having just released Everything Changes, his first album in 13 years, Julian is a happy man. “It’s probably been the best response I’ve ever had,” he says. “I think people have seen a different side to me.” http://www.hamariwen.com/julian-lenn...essional-life/ Sophie 103.7 November 5, 2011 Alicia Keys Pay’s Tribute To The Beatles George Harrison At The Black Ball At Alicia Keys‘ annual Black Ball benefit concert, which was held last night at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Everyone have a safe, positive and great weekend and take care.
Huffington Post November 10, 2011 Why George Harrison Was Known as the Spiritual Beatle The Beatles exist apart from my self. I am not really Beatle George. Beatle George is like a suit or shirt that I once wore on occasion, and until the end of my life people may see that shirt and mistake it for me." -- George Harrison. I was working as a musician in the 1970s, and very late one night during a recording session at Capitol Records, George Harrison just sort of wandered in and sat down to listen. Since he knew the producer of the session, he decided to stay for a "few minutes." We all sat and talked, drank a few beers, and sang background harmonies together... for the better part of five hours. I can report to you that the above quote depicts exactly how he showed up that evening. He was not wearing his Beatles identity, he was just a guy named George, hanging out like a kid with some of his buddies in a garage band. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dennis...b_1080182.html Examiner November 11, 2011 Good Ol' Freda news: Success! $50k goal reached--pledges still needed Congratulations are in order for Good Ol’ Freda, the upcoming Beatles documentary featuring Freda Kelly. November 11, 2011 Yoko Ono advocates peace through art in Harris exhibit Yoko Ono is one of the most polarizing figures in the history of the Beatles. Fans of the fab four always have an opinion on the wife of John Lennon, not all of them positive. However, Ono and Lennon’s philanthropy and their fight for peace cannot be disputed.Their peaceful philosophies have been encapsulated in the traveling exhibition “Yoko Ono: Imagine Peace,” which opened Monday at the Harris Art Gallery. The exhibit displays many of Ono’s trademark artworks, showcasing the heavy avant-garde conceptual style that she so often works with throughout her pieces. “Yoko is one of the most influential conceptual artists in the world,” said Dion Johnson, director of University art galleries. “Her work with John and the ideals it brings up like peace… is something very fundamental to the University.” http://laverne.edu/campus-times/2011...arris-exhibit/ |
