And even though science wasn't that great whenever the first GUY who wrote it WROTE the bible, everyone still believes this. Why can't the bible just be a big story illustrating the concepts of god? Why does it have to be literal? If it's not literal, doesn't it still teach the same lessons, only without the unbelievable stories and dogma? Not attacking you, I swear. I just have questions. But feel free not to answer, most religious people say they accept the literal bible on FAITH and they can't really explain it anyway. which is fine...

As for the church thing, that's so funny. I didn't go to Easter mass this year (I admit I rarely ever go these days) and all I could hear in my head was my mum saying "Jesus died for your sins Sharon, at the very least you could go to church at Easter..."

It is totally about faith - interestingly I am one of the biggest advocates of NOT taking the Bible totally literally and yet I still believe in the virgin birth lol...

Yes I guess it's considered a miracle...as the story goes Mary was at home or something and an angel appeared to her telling her what was up...she was married - she's known as "Mary -ever virgin..."

Ever seen Dogma? That movie KICKS ASS...it makes some really good points..

The thing about my religion is a lot of things are about faith - the whole concept about God is about faith...faith in the unknown - believing in something you've never seen....though many argue they do see things in little ways...I know that oddly my Grandma and I have had some really weird and seemingly unexplainable things happen to us (related to religion).

Umm...I'm not sure I've answered your question at all..you didn't offend at all - I appreciate your questions rather than hostile attacks about how stupid religion is lol...though we're all entitled to our opinions...

My brother in law's mom in response to a "I'm too busy to make it to church today" replied, "Well - good thing Jesus wasn't too busy to DIE for you...he wasn't too busy to be tortured and crucified..." lol....that Catholic guilt springs eternal...
