Okay, definitive top five-and-a-half list:

1. Fleetwood Mac- Rhiannon. Always. She's the undying love whose name I'd tattoo across my chest. Or did tattoo across my hip. Same difference.

2. Bruce Springsteen- Thunder Road. It's my absolute favorite love song. I'm not quite sure I want to know what that says about me, but I love the way he managed to make realism romantic.

3. Tori Amos- Playboy Mommy. "Those angels can't ever take my place" was runner-up to my "taken by the sky" tattoo.

4. The Beatles- While My Guitar Gently Weeps. This one keeps me grounded when I've gone off the the histrionic deep end on the last three.

5. Damien Rice- 9 Crimes. Gorgeous, heart-breaking, relevant in more ways than I want it to be.

and 1/2- Jewel- Hands- The other songs make the list because I think the music and lyrics combine to express a feeling perfectly. With Hands, I'm in love with the lyrics, but the music leaves me wanting more.
