Default Dave Walker at the Mercury

Bozeman Daily Chronicle, June 5, 2009

The Dave Walker Band at The Murray

The Dave Walker Band plays at The Murray Bar in Livingston, 9:30 p.m., Friday, June 5.

Best known for his 1970s hits with Savoy Brown, "Street Corner Talking, Tell Mama, Can't Get Next To You," and others, Walker also did stints with the early Fleetwood Mack and Black Sabbath. Now a resident of Virginia City, Walker put together a band of some of the areas finest musicians: guitarist Jimmy Lewis, bassist Eddie T., keyboardist Chris Cundy, and drummer Mike Gillan. This talented, hard driving blues/rock combo has been performing locally and regionally, and has been invited this year to play at the Magic City Blues Festival in Billings and as a main stage act at the Rockin' the Rivers festival.

A new CD is in the works featuring original material written and arranged by Dave and the band members. There is no cover charge for this show.

I'll second that!

For anyone who hasn't checked out Dave Walker's stuff it really is worth it - he's a great blues rocker and there is a reason that they call him Dave "The Voice" Walker. Please don't be influenced by his Fleetwood Mac work if you don't like that.

He has two fairly recent albums out there, a solo album "Walking Under Water" (2007) and "Mostly Sonny" with the Ambulators (2005).

Trivia:

Ex-Peter Green Splinter Group members Nigel Watson (guitar) & Roger Cotton (keyboards) are members of the Ambulators.

It's always odd when different branches of the Fleetwood Mac family tree intertwine.
