Default When I met Lindsey

I had a chance to meet Lindsey in Minneapolis on the SYW tour in 2003. I'll tell the story quick here. I found out through a friend which hotel they were staying at in Minneapolis, and while unsomfortable with the idea of waiting in hotel lobby, I figured there really wasn't any other way to do it. SO I waiteed in the lobby for like 2 hours on the morning of their second show in St.Paul that year, and at about 10:30 he got off the elevator all by himself looking for the concierge to ask where this one resturant was. I calmly walked up to him and introduced myself, and we ended up talking for about 10 minutes, just me and him. He couldnt have been more generous with his time or more polite to me. finally I told him I figured he had to get going, and I asked if he would mind if I had a picture taken with him.He said no problem, and I had to have the front desk clerk take the picture of us together. It turned out fantastic, and he went on his way. I'll tell you, I dont know if I've couldve hoped for a better experience. Thank you Lindsey, you are a true gentleman who really cares about his fans

Isn't Lindsey the best! He is so down to earth. Do you have that picture of the two of you to post? I love Lindsey photos.

Well, I actually MAY be able to top it. I saw the Zoo in 1992. They were playing at some small club in Dayton, promoting "Shakin' The Cage." Anyway, I saw Bekka Bramlett at the bar, and kindly introduced myself. Well, even then, I was 6 feet tall with a linebacker build, I have red hair, and I was wearing a red t-shirt. In other words, I was kind of hard to miss. Oh, and I was sitting right in front of the stage. During the encore set, they were doing the Don Nix song "Going Down," which Fleetwood Mac used to do in the early '70s and Peter Green did with the Splinter Group. Well, Bekka jumped off stage and had people in the audience sing with her. I was one of those people. She even called me her friend from Dayton! Now, while most people wouldn't care that they were singing with Bekka Bramlett (which would have made my night by itself), remember, Mick Fleetwood was playing drums! So, for that brief two seconds I got to live the dream! My life was fulfilled at the tender age of eighteen!

Funny thing about that show. Afterwards, I asked Mick if they were going to add any Delaney & Bonnie songs. He said, "yeah, the one they did by Dave Mason...He did it too on one of his solo albums. I don't remember the title, but Bekka will be able to tell you." Talk about an omen!

When I got home, I pulled out my copy of Delaney & Bonnie's "On Tour With Eric Clapton" CD and my copy of Dave Mason's "Alone Together" and the song was "Only You Know And I Know," which Lindsey has said was one of the songs that influenced "Second Hand News." Incidentally, the next time I saw Mick and Bekka, they did "Only You Know And I Know," only this time it was with Fleetwood Mac.

Okay, that's it. America has taken enough abuse from the Australians. They've had it too good for too long, with their lobsters the size of watermelons and all of the kangaroos. It is time for America to spread freedom and democracy to Australia.

I'm dying here

Btw, that really was a good story, Steve. I don't even care that it has nothing to do with Lindsey.

The Lindsey story was also really good. Stevie stories, anyone?

Sure. I just told him about how much I respected his willingness to take chances with the music and not sit on his hands. I remember saying that I wasn't one of those crazy fans, and that I didn't care where he lived. He got a real good laugh out of that one. I guess I was ust trying to put him at ease and have a "Normal" conversation with him. Believe me, that wasnt easy, but I dont feel as if any of the members of Fleetwood Mac are "celebrities" I view them more as old friends that I visit everyday. I guess that comes from having listened to them since I was 6 years old. I never got into them because they sold any amount of records. they just touched me, and it's remained with me to this day, almost 30 years later.

Cool David, you're the sort of fan I can relate to. Cool that you told him that AND that you complimented him on taking risks. I would have encouraged him to do that even more.
