Default "Sex and the City" Movie: Eh.

From imdb.com:

'Sex and the City' Movie Back On?

The film version of Sex And The City is back on track after negotiations with the series' four leading ladies made significant progress this week. Stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon were set to star in the big screen version of the hit show before the project collapsed. US Ok! magazine reports exclusively that a studio source has confirmed that the long-postponed project is closer to becoming a reality after "substantial negotiations have opened with each of the stars' teams this week." According to the studio insider, "Obviously, there is still a lot to be worked out contractually, but it would be amazing to get this project off the ground. There is no doubt that fans cannot wait to see them all reunited." Rumors have circulated since the show ended in 2004 that the project was unable to get off the ground because of behind-the-scenes drama between the actresses. Kim Cattrall reportedly refused to appear in the feature film, which reportedly doomed the project. According to sources, enough time has passed and the stars are willing to put their differences aside and move forward with the highly anticipated project.

As much as I loved the series when it was on, I think the window of time to do a SATC movie has kind of passed. I mean, what's there left to say? All four of them found domestic bliss in the end. Now they're all pushing 40 or 50. There is no longer anything novel or scandalous about the single gal making it in the big city and buying expensive shoes. Now they would be doing brunch in Westchester kvetching about the lack of decent parking in White Plains.

This excites me and scares me all at the same time. You make valid points. I think they ended the show on a perfect note - what else IS there to say? So as much as I'd love it- I'm sort of siding with the "leave well enough alone" camp.

if it happens, i'd probably go see it ... but it's been too long. didn't the show end 2 and a half years ago? maybe if kim cattrall had gotten her **** together THEN it would've been worth it.

I've a skewed view since I just barely saw the show a couple of months ago. But yeah - it ended in '04, didn't it?

Also - I'd go see it, no question...I'm just not sure it's a great idea in the first place.

Evidently Kim's bank account ran low enough so that she is willing to deal with SJP's bull**** again. Either way, I'd go see it. I dig those girls.

Well, SJP is not exactly setting any box office records herself. And she's got a baby, a husband, and a townhouse in the West Village to support. I think all of them felt like they were moving onto bigger and better things, but alas, even Cynthia Nixon is now doing FreshDirect commercials. I guess they didn't know a good thing while they had it. And Kim's East Hampton mansion is not exactly paying for itself either... and she probably got shafted in her divorce.

So now the question is whether Cynthia can still be convincing as a straight married mother... Accordingly, I think it would be interesting if they pursued a lesbian plotline involving Miranda. After all... she did move out to Brooklyn, where Park Slope is also known in some circles as "Dyke Slope."

Strangely enough, I don't buy her as a lesbian.

I have no desire to watch a SATC movie, since I have yet to see an episode of the original show.

awesome. this is exciting. I just hope it doesn't ruin the show for me. like, since time has passed, I hope the chemistry is still there, that the script is superb and they end it in the right way.

^^ oh, you should watch it. it is SUCH a good show.

I never watched it until it went off of hbo. And I watched a few episodes without much interest.

But then...oh gawd then. I think the first episode I watched where I cracked up is the one where carrie goes to that photo shoot. 40 and fabulous...."40 and fabulous exclamation point....not 40 and fabulous question mark". That picture of her. GAWD...

oops...sorry-meant for curtis

Honey, it's been 2 years, half of them have split up by now! I would see this. I loved the series. I also didn't watch until it was over, I watched it on DVD. It is quite addictive and escapist.

o.k. I have been looking for almost an hour and I canNOT find it.
In season 3 I think the easy come, easy go episode. When Carrie and Big were in the bar and she said something about "go back to your beige apartment" (he had told her everything was beige now with his new wife and beige was bull****) What was it she said? I always loved that part but can't think of it now
