He was born in Brno/ Brünn then Austro-Hungaria, now Czech Republic.

Peter's family was from Poland (so Celmins), but until 1918 there was no Polnish state, it was divided between Russia, A-H and Germany.

The name Greenbaum ( Grünbaum) means "green tree"

BTW when I lived in Vienna (1963-1968) I had the fortune of seeing Karl Farkas on television. I can't remember anything particular about him, just the fact that I thought he was funny.
