When The Sun Goes Down
The only time that Rick and Billy really put their personal stamp on FM. There should have been more of that happening. Rick in particular and Billy to a lesser degree always seemed constrained. |

I also agree with your summations of Stevie's backing vocals on various songs. She's terrific... actually, much better as a backing vocalist than she is a lead vocalist on this album. |

I'd want to pick one from ea. writer (somewhat);
When The Sun Goes Down (pick up a tambourine, and blast this one, you'll have guarenteed fun) Freedom (Stevie) Behind The Mast (Christine)

Got No Home.
Okay, so it wasn't actually on the album -- it was a demo that was inexcusably passed over for the album. Actually it was one of several BTM demo offerings by Rick that were rejected -- instead, they chose his weaker (IMO) Stand On The Rock. Quote:
From his King Of Hearts Press Kit: "I wrote one group of songs for BEHIND THE MASK that were in a bluesy rock direction," Rick notes, "but that turned out not to be the direction of the album. Almost the same day I got the thumbs down from Fleetwood Mac for this kind of song ......." Lindsey called the album 'generic', and maybe he had a point. But if they'd given Rick & Billy more free rein, it could have been much more distinctive, like When the Sun Goes Down. So with that gripe off my chest, I'll also pick the title track. I loved dark and dangerous Chris. I wish she would have done more dark and dangerous over the years. Quote:

Toss up for me between "In The Back Of My Mind", "Freedom" and "Hard Feelings" but I think I'm gonna go with "Hard Feelings".

"Skies The Limit". So upbeat, optimistic and uplifting.

In The Back Of My Mind
And, vote #2 for Rick's "Got No Home" Besides all the rhetoric about "not the direction of the album", blah, blah, blah. If you sequence "Got No Home" & "Intuition" into the album's running order (take out "Stand On The Rock" & "The Second Time"), they actually DO FIT the rest of the album's tunes...so Rick obviously was playing "politician" and toeing the "company line"....even though it was utter BS.
