I really like Christine's piano on it. Danny kicks some butt on the guitar, too.

The only problem I have with the studio version is Chris's vocal - she was surely capable of a better performance - otherwise it's a great song. The live versions I've heard kick ass.

I agree about the vocal. Musically, I love the song. It was recorded during that "vocally challenged" period for Chris. That Heroes bootleg version is fantastic!!

"Homeward Bound" is on the Bare Trees album. I was referring to the live 1974 Hempstead bootleg version.

I agree with you on that.

I'd love to hear a live version of it.

Maybe MacFan could post it? Grovel Grovel

Gail, I'll post "Homeward Bound" from the Hempstead boot later this morning. I've got to eat breakfast first. I'll be surprised if you don't really like it.

The version on the 1972 Live In Seattle boot is pretty darn good, too.

Here you go, Gail. This is "Homeward Bound" from Hempstead, NY in October 1974. Enjoy!

As evolved as Chris's voice is now since 1972, I still think she'd have difficulty singing "Homeward Bound." It's a pretty tough song to sing and not a great fit for her voice. I might be talking out of turn here, though...

I like the song - just not the singing. Her vocals are just not good at all
